ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Heffernan to Heart??

I really can't see it helping his game more than his own standard development.
Bit more dollars and CB sure...
But I think its more about the ACL, thereby boosting his CV and hoping to get an OS offer.
Worked for the OG brute.
Smart thinking if it comes off.

With Boogs, ACL is a big drawcard, he is young and could lead to a bigger offer if he goes well. Maybe a bit more money as well. Tony is still running youth over there isnt he, maybe he'll get to further work with the big man. Who wouldnt want to work with Tony Vidmar!

However Central Coast look certain to have lost a second key member of their watertight defence with McKinna confirming our story earlier this week that Dean Heffernan is set to agree terms with Melbourne Heart.

"We don't know exactly what's going to happen but it's more than likely that he'll be going," McKinna told the Sydney Morning Herald. The leftback's departure will come after Nigel Boogard was signed by Adelaide United for next season.

Heff Off To Heart - Official

CENTRAL Coast Mariners fullback Dean Heffernan has confirmed he will be joining Melbourne Heart next season, as exclusively revealed by au.fourfourtwo.com on Monday.
The 29 year-old has signed a multi-year deal to join the A-League's newest football club, bringing additional experience to the signings of fellow internationals Kristian Sarkies and Matt Thompson.

"Dean is a modern day defender, with great distribution and an excellent physical presence on the field," said Heart head coach John van't Schip.

"He is tall, extremely mobile but also technically very sound, which is shown by his ability to move into attack and contribute and create goals."

Heffernan scored eight goals in 23 games from leftback in the first Hyundai A-League season for Central Coast before being loaned to FC Nuremberg in the German Bundesliga.

He returned to the Mariners in 2007 and was named in FourFourTwo Magazine's Dream Team for the second time in his career.

Heffernan was also the star in Central Coast's 2009 Asian Champion's League campaign with some stunning individual performances.

His ability to turn defence into attack was rewarded earlier this year with his senior international debut for the Qantas Socceroos in its Asian Cup Qualifier against Indonesia.

Nicknamed "Sonic" for his lightning pace constant energy and windswept quiff, Heffernan may find himself in a different role within coach John van't Schip's structure.

He added: "While Dean has been used in the past as a left-sided player, our intention is to use him as a central defender.

"There are a number of players at the top level who have moved centrally as they matured and become great on-field leaders.

"With his athleticism and power, he is able to compete with strikers of any type and with his technical quality, he is comfortable enough to keep possession and play the ball out of defence, which is the way we want to play."

Dean is the third player to sign with the Melbourne Heart Syndicate, joining Kristian Sarkies and Matt Thompson on multi-year deals.

This sucks.
But Heff by and large has been fantastic for us and will hopefully help us win the lot as a final offering to the gaffer and the club.

Heff will always be a Mariner at Heart. Sorry a sick little joke.
OMG, it pains me to admit I'm related to something like that.
You come out with any more like that at the game tonight and I'll scone you with something heavy. :)

Heff has himself in a very good position. The only other proper left-backs in the comp are Byun and Lochhead, who are both from overseas. Everyone else is a fill-in and is often the weakpoint in the side. He's one of the few players at LB in this league who slots in well and isn't a liability.

If Heff does go (please don't go) - what would people think of the angry ant Scott Jamieson??

I think Jamieson is a superior player to Heff but can't see Pissant Town letting him go.
