D'Appuzzo played well agianst GC and was looking very Heff like with his runs down the left. Not to sure about the extent of his defensive skills though.

Heff is on 6 figures now and is a Sydney boy so it would have to be a decent jump for him to move on.

Yeah it's a small jump for Simon, one that we would've matched though (and is the least outrageous of the four figures here). I suspect there's something funny going on like a "get out free" clause.

Heff's contract when he came back from Nurnberg was amongst the highest in the league. He'd surely be on a good wedge at this new place.

Agree he would have to be on quite a serious pay rise for us to not match it. Or a similar get out free clause maybe wanting to try his hand in asia?

Boogs i understand, he wants to keep improving his game, and a change of scenery will hopefully continue his growth as a player.

Heff has himself in a very good position. The only other proper left-backs in the comp are Byun and Lochhead, who are both from overseas. Everyone else is a fill-in and is often the weakpoint in the side. He's one of the few players at LB in this league who slots in well and isn't a liability.

Knowing that, and knowing he's just about the ONLY Aussie who can do it (Chippers has said he's staying in Switzerland, Tiatto is retiring and past it anyway, Carney is staying o/s), drives his price up. Especially for a side starting from scratch like Heart are, they'd be happy to pay the extra cash (easy to do when you start at $0) and use foreigner spots on other positions.
