Jets flying high on membership drive
Updated September 26, 2011 08:22:25
Jets membership drive on target for 10,000 just two weeks away from the start of the A-league season.
The Hunter Sports Group says the Newcastle Jets are on track to reach 10-thousand members this season.
The A-League season kicks off in two weeks with the Jets to open round one against Melbourne Heart in Newcastle.
More than 8,000 people have purchased memberships ahead of the season starting.
General Manager of Consumer Marketing, Paul Grezanka says that number is well up on last year.
"Last year the Jets had around 1500 members, so to grow it to in excess of 8,000 at the moment we've been absolutely thrilled with the support," he said.
"There's a really exciting future for the Jets and it's clear that the Hunter area has a passion for its sport and in particular football.
"The team's been showing great form in the pre-season and the entire community has got behind it.
"At the moment the Jets are second only to the Melbourne Victory with the number of members for the coming season.
"That's a fantastic result given the challenges the Jets have faced in the last few years, so we're thrilled."
This is good news for the league ... but how are the SCUM beating us ...
In other Scum news ... the Jets have released their new home end song...

"To all our Members who are either renewing or joining us for the first time, we say thank you and welcome! Members are so important and form the foundation for all that we do both on and off the field.
This year we pleased to confirm our Member numbers have exceeded last year and are tracking to be the highest in the Club’s history. This is a wonderful achievement and each and every one of our Members are a valued part of the Mariners.
We would like to confirm that Membership packs will be sent by the end of this week and you should expect to receive them in the mail over the first half of next week. We are mailing from two different locations so you may find that some of your packs arrive on different days."
