ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I bought gold up the top deck. As you said you can always wander down to GA

Were you just lucky to get gold on the top deck or can you request seats on a first come first serve basis?

I dont want to sign up for gold and randomly get put in the isle right next to GA in the corner

If you give them a call you can say where you would like to sit.

Not bad.... I reckon the mariners should make a video like that Fulham Football Club video, especially in the light of Kewell signing for Sydney FC, we don't need Newspaper headlines, we have real fans etc

I requested seats there when I first signed up. Now that you can keep the same seats it works out brilliantly.

No offence, but that sux!

I hope if we try and connect with prospective members, we target women, children, teenagers, pensioners, families, etc... i.e., the community.

I'm glad someone else said that! lol.

It's wanna-be arty and "fresh" but it's been done before and kinda boring. Plus I think the highlights are from the old NSL days??

I don't think there has ever been a good A-League ad. Even those "fan made" ones, while good for a bit of a chuckle, wouldn't make me want to get off my couch and go watch a game. Remember the robots? And floating people? That one made me want to get off my couch and change the channel, maybe even sell the TV, just so I didn't have to watch it. Why does it always have to be overpriced, gimmicky crap that looks like some art student has made it to impress their bored, out of touch with reality teacher?

Lunchtime mini-rant over.

Animal farm comments me thinks...

The Mariners management have done what so far aside from a mail out...

However back to the vid... PG used to get crowds of 13 to 17 K in the NSL days ... many of these fans were Scottish ...

When Hal started JON and his mob banned [for good reason] national flags at Hal matches ... wanting to distance themselves from the old ethnic NSL clubs... PG were never part of this problem but all Scottish stuff was banned and the girls showing their tits on top of someone shoulder was also frowned upon as being family unfriendly ... But PG were part of the solution and one of the reasons the revolution that was HAl took place...

PG crowds fell by over 50% and it is accepted by FFA that the stance they took with the PG fans .. farked them over big time... I see this youtube as trying to get their lost tribe back...

Finally I assume its not the only thing they are doing... and it is something ...

Its always hard to come up with a good marketing video. Personally I found the below one quite good. I think the trick would be to link it from the paddocks of the junior games and the passion of the kids and parents through to having a kick and a laugh in the over 35's and 45's generating talk about the game you played/used to play, the passion for YOUR team then linking it to the hero's in your A league side aka the Mariners - pan to Ollie, Pat, and the rest of the team attending the junior and local games and the worship from the kids that follows. Show the skills on the field when we smash the scum and Bling FC and the passion in the crowd. Have a catch phrase at end. I take credit if they do it this way!! :piralaugh:

Muppet I like your idea & you got me thinking.(That could be dangerous)

The one person that links everything you`ve said together is Andrew Clark.

Therefore, following on your idea how about:-
Clarky as a kid playing for Mountains FC-> then playing for the Mariners-> then back to mountains playing over 35s with his old teamates-> & finishing with his job at the Mariner`s with the "stars"

Slogan:- "A LIFETIME OF FOOTBALL-A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES"

Your thoughts?

I love the idea Muppet & Style.

The reason I follow the Mariners is because they are MY team. They represent my town and I love the fact that we can all come together and support the one entity. It's very empowering on game day when thousands of locals rock up to Blue Tongue, wearing yellow, with one goal in mind... WIN!!!

My point is... The Mariners represent our community and Clarky is one of us. He is so intimately entwined in our everyday lives and he gave the kids someone that they could worship, teenagers someone they could try and emulate and adults someone they can relate to.

The Perth Glory video is a wank. Clarky's story is a winner.

As for the slogan.... "f**k I LOVE THE MARINERS!"

(slogans aren't my strong suit)

What do you mean by "animal farm comments"?

Read the book ... one of the farm animals starting working [not too sure if working is the right word] ... any old how he gets heaps of other animals telling him how bad he is...then when successful everyone wants part of the pie ...

I am sure you are very well aware of the tale... by George I am sure sure you know the tale....

I get the reference, not the relevance. We should all endeavour not to disagree with you now? As has been noted, there have been other videos done, some of us just don't especially like that one.

And nevertheless, we aren't bound to like something just because it has been done with all good intentions. If we have to be uncritically, mindlessly, numbly grateful for any bit of PR work lest we be accused of making 'animal farm' comments, we might as well give up having a forum.

OT- is there a lower level of Godwin's Law that applies when people invoke Orwell?
