GC game - STILL IN GOSFORD

We were good in the first half and terrible in the second.

We were the better side but stood off and invited them to hurt us and defended poorly and that cost us the game.

We came out flat in the second half and defensively we were pathetic at times, with both full backs simply not doing their job.

Fold's keeper pulled off some stunning saves while young Ryan (apart from one fantastic save) had a relatively bad day at the office.

I thought Doig and Dutchy looked very solid and composed at the centre of defence.

I thought Simon played well today.

Kwas did great when he came on but Lewis and Hutcho were ineffectual....in fact Hutcho was purely shite..you would have thought we were 4.0 up with his sense of urgency.

Once Bozanic and Amini went off we lost all drive from midfield.

Not sure who to give points to:

Doig, Dutchy, Simon maybe...Amini and McBreen were quite good.

Really we threw that game away.

Nice to see good support in numbers but so called "active" support were very quiet.

Did laugh at " Your just Scum, like ya Father..scum like ya Father" chanted to Culina.

Ref was a complete twat.

was abit hard with such low numbers once again in the bay willing to help out...

expect to see some youth players getting a run next few weeks, arnie mentioned that the players are quite tired and need a rest, therefore he wil bring up some younger guys

We really missed Bojic. We looked tired and fatigued from too many matches, and Bojic is our fittest player. He's a personal trainer FFS. How bad is his injury?

And the Pope's a Catholic...

Apparently he stuck his finger up at the crowd?

Surely the match review panel will be giving him a week's rest?

That game was all about us as far as I'm concerned.
We dominated them first half and made them look bad. Then we put them into the game and gave them the win in the second.
They were never our betters. We just looked tired at times (Mentally and or physically) and made terrible mistakes.

Obviously we need to take our chances.

But I hope Arnie has learned from this that we need a genuine #10 on the park for the 442 narrow diamond to work.
Once Musty came off we lost our rhythm. We need Perez back, better finishing and we will be title contenders.

My assessment … When Amini went off the game changed … we had no go to player .. for me weeMac should have moved to CM with Matty going RM…

We should have been 3 to 6 up at half time… two soft goals the first and when Wilko lost the ball …

When Hutch came on we lost all shape…. in fact when Matty came back to midfield we lost shape as well but when Hutch came on we lost all shape and direction…. Hutch may be many things but he is a number 10…

Overall I found Doig disappointing and with Wilko playing right back I thought our right side attack lost a lot…

Easy to say but I would prefer we move Wilko back to a CD role … and promote one of the kids to right back…if Pedj is out any longer..

First half we creamed them… tho Amini had his best game today ..

My top three

3 points to Rostyn Griffiths IMO best player on the park…
2 points … Mustafa Amini had his best game today IMO and how we missed him we he left..he owned the center of the park today…
1 point… weeMac just edging out Olly..

Second best on park maybe the best was Moss the Folds keeper…

Loved the guys in the red wigs… and nice to see close to 10 K at the ground…

Also top marks to GA he rested both Amini & Olly … when they were both in charge on the field .. but at 17 & 20 they need to be protected a bit …

If Hutch is used again I hope it is a left Mid only …

It's Culina he'll get off it

On the game that second half was hard to watch. At 1-1 I had a feeling there would be more goals and had a feeling it would come from them. Our defense seemed tired.

On mcglinchey I think he has confidence but a little too much. Ive noticed in the last couple games holding the ball too long in the box.

When kwassie scored I thought we were in with a shot but then we all know what happened next.

Let's look forward now. Big performance needed against the jets. We need people who are going to shoot more.

I think normally that Lewis would have replaced Amini with Olly moving to the front of the diamond. However, GA seemed worried about Olly even in the first half. I couldn't see much wrong in the way he was running but GA kept checking if he was alright. Any news on an injury/illness?

Not thrilled with the result - but as others have said - the result was ours. We played the better football until we ran out of steam and GCU took advantage of that.

Quite simple we ran out of legs in the second half. We were a class above in the first but we all know we lack at least one, if not two, natural goalscorers so as we have done so many times we carve teams apart but don't score enough to put them away. Its the heavy chain that we will carry with us unless or until January (guest player) or next season. It would help though if our midfield players could score from open play - it's an area of the game for Bozanic and Mcglinchey to improve upon. Amini has had a chance in every game he has played but needs a little more composure. Mistakes by Alex Wilkinson are as rare as an apology from John Howard but looking at the reply it is possible the ball hit a flat spot and didn't bounce for him. But at least his mistake came by trying to play football. I though Doig looked very uncomfortable on the ball, he doesn't seem to like the new style of play that requires the ball to be passed to the feet of a team mate, and quickly. Despite his mistake we need Wilko back in the middle asap, I hope Bojic is fit or if not will Arnie try Trent Sainsbury at RB?. It was very obvious from the stands that Bozanic ran out of puff early in the second half; their second goal was a result of team fatigue. Thought McGlinchey kept going pretty well. Miron was very generous in victory. I see that Cullina refresshed his Gold Coast Diving School certificate, what a pathetic little princess.
MoM - 3 pts Rose - excellent going forward first half, really intelligent defender too. 2 points - McGlinchey; 1 point Zwaanswijk

Personally I thought Amini was well off his game today, gave the ball away too cheaply and really should have done better when 1 on 1, yes you have to get it on target to make the keeper work but he just blasted it straight at him! Not sure how you can say it was 1 of his best games Midfielder?

Wilko was also very average on the right, we may as well have played 3 at the back, Wilko can't cross and is hesitant to overlap, it's been a long time since he played there! I didn't think we offered much at all down the right in general, Rose on the left along with Ollie is a great combination.

We really should have gone in at half time at least 2 goals to the good, then to conceed just before HT was a bitch!

Kwas looked lively again when coming on, had a spring in his step, it was good to see GA giving his bench some time to get into the game.

Ryan seems to have over the last 2/3 games developed vukovic's feet of clay compounding wilkos mistake highlighted this.

Great game though

Umm - Id be glad to know what goals he should have saved over the past two games

Melb - No chance on either
Fold Coast - No chance again....

I thought he had a good game in goals - one on one and being beaten from 5 yrds out is not a footwork issue... Don't listen to Harpers dribble about being beaten at the near post - there was little angle at all on it - Harper doesn't know his arse from his face
