Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Looking forward to this.

Personally with Crowell back and Doig out, I'd like to see a 3 5 2, but I won't.

I think it's good that you won't see a back 3. We'd be playing narrow with essentially 3 centre backs and then collapsing down to a back 5 to cover the wide areas. I don't think we need to set up that way. The back four has barely seen consecutive weeks with the same personnel but the shape's working well at the moment so I'd be pretty happy to see it stay the same.

If we get a corner late in the game, just catch the ball and run it into the net.  Clearly those things are allowed these days.  ;)

Just gonna put this out there.

Yes, getting a second win would be awesome BUT, consider this.

a Fury win should put Scumcastle back on the bottom of the ladder.

Win/Win situation I think
lol, like your way of thinking .... but would rather see the yellows with a bigggggg win than the scum languishing (still time for that!) :)

Doig living up to the pre signing reputation

Well, at least Doig delivers when he is actually playing, not like a certain striker (cough)

Scum will get the spoon without any help from us.

We need a win here to get a roll on as we enter a period of mainly home games.

Good points re defense.

I was trusting to our record and thinking with Hutch, Pedj and Crowell we'd still be very hard to break down.

But the real reason is just that I wanted to see Pedj Hutch Crowell Weemac and Travis on the park at the same time and I don't like when we play lone striker formations and as I would much rather have Matty as Target man than Nik or kwas.
2 upfront seemed the go. Also like to see lewis on the bench at least, and with a 352 this would be more likely.

In attack we shift to something like a 3-5-2 anyway - one fullback always pushes on, and one wide mid becomes a second striker.

I should say *when we're playing well* players push on. When we were shit-awful early in 2009 it was basically just rows of statues.

Unfortunatly I think the Heat/humidity factor will force us into a very defensive role and looking at 1-1
Saying that I do believe that this early heatwave will aclimatize the "pommie lads" and we will have a good roll on into semis and the GF( Its ours this year)This is the best balanced team we've had and the standard they play at is improving every week. Great recruitment by LM with the players and appointment of Walmsley as assistant coach.

The heat/humidity factor could make a big difference. Anyone know when the lads headed up there? Hopefully earlier rather than later in the week for them to get used to the conditions.

No difference in temps recently. As to humidity not sure how humid Townsville has been but I think we will be all right.

No Idea when the lads got up to Townsville but I have been acclimatising in North Queensland since Monday and Mick has been up there since Thursday I believe ;)

Has not been that humid at all. This time of the year it is pretty dry. Warm, but by 8pm QLD time (sun goes down at 6:30pm) temperatures should be decent.

Matt Simon out for this game to be replaced by Mrdja.
