ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

This great news but there has been no link to a news story or anything which make me think its a bit of a stich up.
How would the kids get there free memberships? Is it like the central coast rugby league. They get a card to scan everytime they go to a game but theres is set at a 5 game limit

hasn't been publically announced yet

was only detailed at the delegates meeting this week

Id assume that the kids will have to apply for them. And presumably pay for a "membership" at 50 bucks or whatever.

I wonder if they will be GA tickets? If so you would assume there will be more GA tickets next season.

If they are GA you would assume that members would have a chance to upgrade their kids free ticket to gold or whatever.

Its a great idea and my 12 year had a massive grin on his face when i told him.

I'm sure it will add another couple of K to the crowd numbers each game.

You're not serious? Their focus should be on the kids on the coast, not expanding into other territory when they don't have their own house in order. If it's blue and yellow all the way, why not move down here or have her play for Gorokan or whatever they are called. Central Coast kids should be the priority. ANyway blah blah blah rant over.

Why wouldn't he be serious? If this is a deal done between CCF football then the Coast kids get it as you say, but if it was a policy of the CCMFC that all juniors of clubs where the parent is a member then it would be different. At the moment it appears to be the former but why can't we long-term Mariners supporters who live outside the Coast areas serviced by CCF not aspire for our children to be welcome on a similar basis. It may of course never happen!

An rant indeed but an unsightly rant East Ender!

bit over the top, imo. you expect CCMFC to find out where every fan in the world lives and give them/their children free memberships? Regardless of how long anyone from anywheres supported the club- the top priority should be consolidating the coast support, not worrying about areas of sydney and newcastle.
+1.
"Oh ive lived in Queensland all my life but supported the Mariners since day one... How come the mariners have forgotten about me?". How close or far away you are to the border they draw to distribute memberships is irrelevant. They have decided that it's only Coast juniors so deal with it. Thoughts go out to your daughter, sincerely.
Think about those who JUST missed out on their Rudd money?
Ever thought of playing for Toukley.. they are Yellow and Blue

The idea is to capture football players that are not attending games and to get their families in and in the process gaining a boost in attendances. NOT to give freebies to families that are already attending as rewards for loyalty.

I think there should be a loyalty discount though, like 10% off if 5 year member. 15% for 10 etc. Gives members a sense of belonging and worth

Isn't the idea of a season ticket giving a discount over what you'd pay at the gate anyway ?

Stuff the freebies and discounts etc I'd rather have our full quota of home games and pay the extra.

The price of a GA kids ticket was taken off the total price of my Gold Family pass for my boy in the u6's automatically. Too easy, well done Mariners!

As our renewal wasn't 'Family', the full $95 cost of my (U11) son's Gold / same membership number / same reserved seat was free. Nice reward for existing members!

Obviously in these days of modern information management, working these things out mightn't be the task is used to be but props to all that it worked. GREAT STUFF, CCMFC

Great work as everyone has said ... the Express article was good to read as well ....the press releases seemed to indicate this is in some way being funded by Energy Australia ... meaning what I am not sure but could mean if a kid turns up then Energy Australia pay their ticket admission.. if this is the case it is a huge bigger than huge deal... does anyone have any idea on the Energy Australia connection...

i "think" Energy Australia are funding the cost of the cards and the club are wearing the free admisssion?

'Small town' thinking. And the 'move down here or else' comment is laughable. Football is a global game - Mariners partly recognise this though it's reciprocal arrangements with other Clubs. So why not with juniors? I agree priority should be on 'coast', but how hard is it to make it a 'blanket arrangement'? You'd think by removing impediments it would save on administration costs.
In any case, I'm an hours drive away, so would fit into the coast's catchment area I would have thought.
It's not just about the money\gifts, although every bit helps when a 'distant fan' has added costs to get to games. It's about the message. If the message such decisions send is the same as EastEnder's, the Club does not have the vision I would hope they had.

Anyway, it's partly a non-issue with the 'bring a friend for two games' offer with memberships, and extension of Junior membership to 16 years. Great initiatives.

Small town thinking? No, the Mariners need to sort things out on the Coast, they are the 'Central Coast' Mariners after all. If things were going really well here then by all means push the brand further but until then. Football is a global game as you say, CCM is hardly a global brand though.

Where did I say 'move down here or else'? What ever happened to supporting your local team, and before you get on your high horse, i've heard the breakers lecture before. If the Breakers were in the comp I don't think you'd be on this messageboard would you, other than to fling shit at the coast. My point here is that the proportion of mariners fans who attend games but live in Sydney or Newcastle is miniscule in comparison so is it really worth the effort of setting up agreements and all that bollox with areas outside of CCF.

"In any case, I'm an hours drive away, so would fit into the coast's catchment area ", why? i'm an hour from Newcastle and less than an hour from Sydney, I don't think of myself as being in Jets or SFC catchment.

I may be seeing things too simply but surely one of the main reasons it is offered to only CCF Juniors is to have some control over potential numbers. If it was to be offered to registered players in other regions, why not offer it to CC kids who aren't registered with CCF aswell. 'Potentially' filling the stadium with free tickets.
