Sheer joy at beating the scum :)
I remember that night and leaving the stadium via the CCLC side exit and there were people in the club car park sitting on ledgers waving flags... the street was just packed signing .... the club that night had a feel to it I have never experienced agian or before for that matter... Dibo and others posted heaps of photos ... was a great night agree...

Got to agree with you. It was a fight to buy any Mariners gear from the kiosk before kick off. Brilliant, perfect night. Took me 45 mins to get out of the railway parking station.

So fired up. Bbq and drinks then off to the kendall at 5. Our defense is going to be the key. Roar have scored 2 or more goals against us this season. If we can keep a clean sheet or hold them to one (with 2 or 3 from us)we can kick on to brisy and win.

From the Courier mail on match day ... wonder how the players react to this if at all... maybe something to do with Fat Tony pulling the plug on the take over..

FFA ready to take over cashed-strapped Brisbane Roar

A BITTER financial dispute between the Brisbane Roar board of directors and Football Federation Australia has the sport's national governing body poised to take full control of the cash-strapped A-League club.

Despite the premiership-winning Roar's fantastic season, which continues in tonight's major semi-final first leg against Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford, Brisbane's off-field problems seem to have reached a point of no return.

With the club millions of dollars in arrears, Roar owners Emmanuel Drivas, Emmanuel Kokoris, and Claude and Serge Baradel are no longer willing to pour their money into the financially embattled franchise.

The quartet are believed to be angry with the FFA for failing to live up to an alleged promise to pay off half the club's debt.

The FFA will not budge and, growing tired of the Roar board's resistance, is ready to demand Brisbane's A-League licence be returned, with a showdown looming as early as next week.

Confident in their ability to attract new investors to a club that has qualified for next year's Asian Champions League, FFA is apparently content to take full control of the Roar until replacement owners are found.

The financial strain on FFA will be relieved when they close North Queensland Fury - a club they have poured almost $10 million into - potentially within a week.

Roar director Claude Baradel refused to comment yesterday, saying he did not want the focus taken off the club's bid to claim a premiership-championship double.

FFA chief executive Ben Buckley was also reluctant to discuss the matter in depth, but was confident the Roar's long-term future would be secured.

But the Roar board came out in defence of embattled Brisbane chief executive Peter McLennan, whose position has come under scrutiny following FFA's decision to hire former Brisbane Lions chief executive Michael Bowers in a consultancy role at the club.

"As owners and as a board we are delighted with Peter's performance and believe he has done, and continues to do, a fantastic job leading the club," the board said in a statement.

"We are buoyed by the direction the club is heading on and off the park."

Should be a good crowd, two people I know are now five, and four people I know are now ten.
looking forward to a great night; all I want is for us to play well, to play to our best, and if we do I believe we will win. This is what football is all about :eek:verhead:

Wrong line-up, wrong tactics .. wrong result

Why would you play 2 planks up front and start Hutchinson ?

Hutch was not our worst by far. In fact Griffiths was terrible when he came on. Looked as tired as anything and he was only on the field for 10 minutes!

Should have scored a few and tonight I think the better team lost, but then thats not a shock in this game of ours

Our striker woes still exist. We had enough chances to win that game and the one in Brisbane. Exactly what I spoke about in the Brisbane thread happened tonight. Brisbane copped a bit of luck scoring off of 2 dreadful mistakes from us and chances that other teams would have buried we stuffed due to a lack of composure and that small rub of the green needed every now and then.

Bozanic and McBreen were sloppy with their control and passing tonight and we gave away too much ball to beat a team that has been unbeaten for so many games. I dont think I have seen a worse performance infront of goal. around 20 shots at goal and only 2 on target. That just beggars belief.

Oh well, we've been here before and turned the tables. Brisbane's arsey luck has to stop sooner or later and they will have a night like we did tonight. I mean this is football. The favourite always looses sooner or later.

FP.....
Style I'm not too worried, as I think Pedj and the Glinch - effectively being our right side of attack - both had off days by their impressive standards. But we still created some clear cut chances aerially as well as a through ball to one on one... and many threatening runs almost finding our way right through. (Speaking of the Glinch, the Jets new LB - he's decent I think - had been studying Glinch I'd say and Glinch needs to rewatch that game and look at what was going on there

I hate to say I told you so but F..k were we predictable tonight!!!

The Roar had us pegged all game.Whenever Rosey got down the left they compacted the centre of the box & shut us out.
Pedj & Wee-mac were non effectual ,especially in the second half when they failed miserably to get down the line & get a decent cross in.
To play against the top team with only 10 men really gave us no chance to win the game.I know we hit the post 3 times but Roar basically scored from their only two chances & owned us tonight.

I don`t think Matty was 100% but he gave us what he could & getting 90 mins under his belt will help next week.
Can we go to Brisbane & win next week?
Not a f.....g chance!!! if we play with the same team.

McBreen has to go,apart from 1 pass to Rose he was useless.Ibini would have at least given us 11 v 11.
Kwassie did nothing when he came on so get rid of him to & bring in Duke. They can`t do any worse than the two imposters we had out there tonight.

I thought Hutcho tried hard tonight. He gave 100% but Griffith is now so far ahead of him the best Hutcho could hope for is a bench seat.

We have to go for broke next week.
Fortune favours the brave as we`ve seen before.
Work on our right side attack, encourage our midfielders to shoot & maybe get Dutchie to have a few long rangers to mix it up & we`ll be a different team with a chance of winning.
