ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Gotta say the two outside backs played well ... Vernes did not have a good game however he is a mid not a striker ... prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt at this stage...

Didn't do enough but still showed some nice touches. I've seen far far worse games from many of our senior pros over the years. Still showed plenty of promise.
Also he was played out of position.

Hutcho had a good game. Showed himself well. Passed to feet. Most importantly he was more aware of his team mates movement and linked well.
Loved the slow pace of the game and one of our best.
HA! Classic role reversal happening here - I think his passing was slower than it needed to be and he was actually the reason we were too slow a lot of the time. When we've *got* space and time, we ought to use it. There's less reason to be uber-careful. So why not open the play up more often and get it moving?

Unless of course the plan was to get through the game with minimum sweat and risk and just do what was needed, in which case playing gentle tempo makes plenty of sense.

That said, his ball to Fitzy in the leadup to the final goal was a peach.

Caceres did OK too, in particular made some good interceptions and provided good support to the right side. Cernak was very handy too.

f**k me we have some depth! No wonder Mossy had to get rid of Flores
Yep. Trifiro is already as good as Flores ever was for us. We've got a work-shy pretty but somehow lacking import at AM already, but he's Korean rather than Argentinian. We simply don't have room for another, no matter how nice a fellow he might be.

It ended up being an easy win against a toothless opponent. We are still a bit too static with our movement off the ball but a marked improvement on previous couple of outings.

Reddy 7. Nothing to do.
Neill 6. Willing effort. Made a few mistakes.
Morton 6. " "
Ando 8. Dominant performance.
Bosnar 7. Solid. Both CB enjoyed a picnic as the Sharks attacked like we normally do......from very very deep.
Vernes 6. Clearly has skill and touch but looks underdone.
Hutcho 7.5. Enjoyed an easy night against a soft midfield but played well. Passes found feet and was willing to drive forward a little more than usual.
Caceras 6.5. Reasonably tidy. Passing could be more accurate.
Fitz 6.5. Worked hard and a decent game.
Cernak 7. Good game. Looked dangerous and lively.
Trif 8.5. Great game. Intelligent player. MOM.

Sim 8. Great reward for someone who made it happen for himself. The 4th goal was excellent. The others were simple but he made sure he was in the right spot to take advantage.
His touch is not fantastic but his work rate is.

I seem to remember much wailing and gnashing and teeth when he *did* start on the weekend. ;)

Because he wasted 2 good chances. If he had scored 4 against the Scum then Mossy would have been hailed a genius and Sim the signing of the decade.

Heres hoping scoring 4 in the FFA is an epic confidence boost and he starts putting those chances away in the a-league

Well done sim, very disappointed not to see Bingham have a run last night. If there's not a local player on the central coast that cant do what Vernes was doing last night I'll hand my license in. Bos was terrific as was hutch and Trifiro.

Good for Sim. Shows what a bit of hard work and commitment can do when you have some raw ability. He'll be hard to leave out for Saturday now along with Trif and Caceres. Kim will be under massive pressure to keep his place.

No, but it's a different task. I guess I'm saying I know he's good, and he was good, but he can be better and often is.

His role is like the drummer in a band - he drives the tempo and he gives everyone else their lead. Last night he *often* held a ball up that would have opened play up and allowed us to pull their compact defence out of shape. I wondered in my post last night if it might even have been deliberate - a training exercise to see how we go playing through compressed areas.

Cernak's goal was a demonstration of how we do it well. Sim's final goal was a demonstration of an incisive vertical ball to a target to break a defensive block. Sim's second goal (? the one where he burst through a fractured line) came about through intelligent runs beating a back 4 pressing too high.

The score wouldn't have been what it was without the keeper making key errors, but we demonstrated we could play.

I thought it looked like it was decided to focus on playing the ball where possible, rather than lobbing it. So they slowed it down and held on to it to ensure that the right options were available before playing it in... Yep, felt a bit training-ish at times, I'm thinking you're right and there might have been a reason for that :)

Even though we had 70% of possession we still didn`t create that many goal scoring opportunities, which is a real worry for Mossy

Full marks to Sim.Any coach would love to have a sub that can do that.
In fact I wouldn`t be surprised if it is a world record for a sub to come on & score 4 in 20 odd mins.
I`ve certainly never heard anything like it in my 48 years in the game.

He came on against a tiring defence that hadn`t played in 2.5 weeks, but remember up until that time they had held us to 1-0.

I think we didn't create many opportunities because they parked the bus. They were quite effective at doing this. They hardly pressed us and kept their formation quite tight. I think Moss was happy to hold onto the ball. If we had tried to play more counter attacking it would have given their fast players more opportunities to run the ball.
