ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Farewell Gumps......and Thanks!

Six figure salary for four seasons abd the opportunity to establish his academy/business through the Mariners brand.

I am sure he feels royally shafted.  ::)

Champion player...champion bloke.

Thanks Gumps at least you know the fans loved you and appreciated you even if short sighted individuals within the club didn't.

Like everything CCM does at the moment it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Perhaps, but far from being shafted. Maybe you ask him how he feels about it.

Other players are allowed to use the Mariners brand name to promote their other interests too Marinermick. No big deal.

I never said it was a big deal and I wasn't against it.

I was just saying that Gumps got plenty out of the club as well so the royally shafted statement is a bit extreme.

Andre, you will be missed, you are a Central Coast icon and your sportmanship and professionalism is something missing in many of the sportspeople of today. Thank you for being part of our lives on the Central Coast for the past 4 years and I hope you are here for many more to come.

Is there going to be a farewell organised for Andre at all, by anybody?

At the game last night all the injured players were sitting in a box behind us. All game kids would come up just to talk to Gumps, ignoring Matty, Dylan, Nik and O'Grady, even a security guard stopped and sat to talk to him. With 20mins left a bloke turned round and yelled out to Andre to get out there and "save the game" followed by everyone chanting his name. Thats how much he means to the fans.

A genuine man of the people and his appearances with the fans when he had his terrible knee injury (thnaks Leijer you wanker) will be long remembered.

I suspect he will go on to be a very good coach somewhere one day and I wish him well

For any one out there who listened to Sea FM this morning at around 7.50am, Gumps had an interview with the Morning Show.

He said something along these lines when he was asked weather or not he will be leaving. "I am a coastie and i plan to stay here and continue to grow my business to bigger and better things. If there was interest around him from other clubs he would consider a contract and he wasnt ready to give up being at professional football player yet."

Good luck with your future career, and thanks for all the memories. You'll be a hard act for future Mariners midfielders to follow.....Mach's gut, Andre!

Does anyone feel robbed by the fact we wont get a chance to give Gumps, a fan favorite, a the farewell he deserves?

Big Time.  Gumps shafted yet again by CCM management.

+1

"McKinna admitted feeling 'relief' that the club's campaign was over....Most of the squad has been together for four or five years, it's time to refresh and move on,"

In contrast to McKinna, who was waiting for the end,  Gumprecht never ever gives up. Thats one reason why he is a crowd favourite.
Its a shame that Mckinna and the other management team dont see themselves in need of refreshing and a move on.

Agreed Fruitbat!!

The whole Gumpy thing shows serious flaws in Lawrie's character and management skills.

If Lawrie was more professional he would bring Gumps in as an assitant coach and the mollycodling of piss poor players would end.

Mehh - Whatever

Gumps WAS a great player for CCM and a real team man but lets just wipe the sentiment away for a few minutes and ask ourselves if he deserved another contract considering the bit part he plays....  He gets the crowd behind the team but for the $$$ he is on you can not justify keeping him around. If he was willing to take a cut then perhaps.... and to be honest we don't know if that was ever put to him or not.

Fact is CCM have noe set a precedent here - If Gumps can be let go then so can others at the end of their contract (Mrdja, Hutch etc etc)..... perhaps the club has balls, perhaps its the dumbest mistake ever.... only time will tell...

I for one salute you Gumps - thanks for the memories.....

You bet. I've seen him train players and there is no quarter given.
For Gumps , a rest break in training is jogging rather than sprinting.  I kid you not!
Gumps offers a unique service: 90 mins of one-on-one training for only $70. I watched my son who played A grade last year and is his no 1 fan, run into the ground a few weeks ago.  My son paid for this with his pocket money, and looks forwards to his clinics he runs each school term.

He doesnt hold back if he thinks you have more to give.

I dont know why he wasnt the Mariners captain/coach. He is qualified enough and I dont see Wilkinson commanding the backline, let alone the mids and forwards too. We could have had 2 for the price of one which would offset paying out MacKinnas contract
