Drivebys vs Central Coast Mariners - Semi Final

The only good thing to come out of this season has been the massive improvement in support from the Yellow Army and the stands and the band who are just fantastic.

I'd like to give a huge clap to PP, Eggy and the little dark haired dude who led the support so fantastically well last night.

A massive pat on the back to all the Coasties last night who surprised the Drive bys with the quality of your support.

Btw who was the dude that got bashed by the riot squad and cops and dragged out for next t00 nothing (apart from being pissed). I tried to help him but the coppers didn't want to play nicely.

If Moss had Rooney and Van Persie then, yeah take the brakes off but we lost Zwaanswijk, Bojic and then Sainsbury, had new guys come in and without a defence in top order we would have been cut to pieces and never made the finals. Moss played the cards he was dealt and didn't do too bad. He had to hit the ground running and get results.
Now he has some time to get us back to the attacking form we were in last season.

I hear your point Vic but the 3 you mention are all defenders.

If you make Rooney and VP play in their own half as we would you still have a problem.

Rooney and Van Persie are strikers and Zwaanswijk, Bojic and Sainsbury are defenders, I know who plays where, jeez.

What I was saying was you can't go all out attack if your defence can't handle the inevitable counter attacks. Ours was unsettled.
I agree, it has been a poor year and we have sometimes played ugly, but how good is it to finish as high as we did. Moss has done the best he could do under the circumstances.
Next year we are all hoping for improvement.

Bingo. We also improved our attack this year by getting our defence settled with the ball. When the CBs started playing their roles properly in possession, our security with the ball improved and we could get more enterprising.

I hate losing.
I hate soft soaping.
I hate people picking what whey think is a soft target and using them as a scapegoat.
On the mini bus on the way home someone said Simon should have started as if that would have fixed it. I gave my opinion that he actually would have been less effective than Duke with that formation.
Duke and Simon are both very good players with huge hearts and fantastic work rates but playing either of them or Ibini or Kwas as a one out striker with little support is desperate and clueless.
CCM and Mossy are better than that.

BTW...I have never claimed to be classy and if you call yourself Capt Awesome you better have a solid chin......(sorry just reread that..not a personal threat at all....I just mean with a name like that better be able to back up an argument )

No worries. I didn't realise you had to live up to your user name. I'll be sure to make sure you live up to yours in the future. You're doing a great job so far. ;)

Wombat tends to have a reasonable read on players but is so hell bent on playing pub league 442 that 2/3rds of his posts are aggressive negative dribble

I just hit ignore user, I'm looking forward to an improved forum experience

take it or leave it champ, I was on here last season after you guys won congratulating you guys, the best games WSW have been involved in have been between our two teams, bugger Derbies (SFC and Jets) are hardly an interesting challenge for either of us these days. if you dont like football banter between clubs and only want to talk to your own insular group good on you, you do that, but I like talking football win/lose/draw.
Got no problem with banter, it's just if I want to be berated for being a mariners fan I would prefer to go to twitter, Facebook, sbs or 442

Not nice indeed - 4 of them drove his face into the ground. I was yelling at them to let him go from back row of Bay 71. Got it on video as well but missed what happened to start it. As security were worried about the over crowding in Bay 71 they were blocking everyone who went for Beers unless you had a Bay 71 ticket. Had to help a young girl climb up the wall to get her back in. We addressed the stadium manager with our concern who wasn't real fussed until we said we have proof of what they just did but what did he do to get it? Stadium management said he was intoxicated (then why did they serve him as was coming back with a tray) & spat on them when denied entry. Now I have to say he deserves his new facial "IF" he did spit (it's appalling behavior). He also put up a struggle which does get you no where.

Another older gentleman had the same problem. He produced a ticketek printout but the security wanted nothing do with it. They were complete pricks & he had to argue with them for 5 minutes. They were provoking him but he handled himself with dignity & kept up the fight & didn't threaten them like they wanted him to. They eventually relented but it should never have been an issue in the first place. But he treated them with respect & eventually got his paid for right.

As for comments on here. I really don't like the westy scum references. I think people should seriously pull there heads in with those comments.
Whereas the "Drive buys" stuff etc is smarter, less vitriolic, and so just acceptable banter as far as I'm concerned.

That being said, having read a few before, really I think after visiting the losing team forum after an elimination final, that this place is remarkably well behaved and even somewhat rational. I also really like that you guys can come on here and have a chat without it immediately breaking down into hurled abuse. I remember you coming on last year to offer congrats too mate. Good form.
I agreeFP

The whole Centrelink/benefits stuff just irks me. How can people from the worst youth unemployment in the country be attacking others for something we use probably just as much. Is there something to it I don't get/understand? Is that the point that it's more insulting to come from us?

Especially when we went down the 2nd goal & we went a little flat with the realisation. To start that stuff reaks of sore lossers which we aren't.

Was very proud of our efforts it was fantastic.

I'm actually a little disappointed by the FFA WSW fans. Only 1 comment on way back to the car & that was enjoy the long drive home. Went into Church Street for dinner (coloured up) - Not a single comment. It must have hurt real bad last year. While they were great surely a couple of little jibes were required.

To PP & all his side kicks - Great effort all year but Sat was something special to be a part of thank you & to all the other mariners who made it that way.

Had a great night. While a little disappointed didn't care as much as I thought I would or as Wombat (hope your feeling better today)

I don't hate anybody; I smile at every one I meet. I even give out hugs. I don't hate the Jets or WSW, they are all part of the fabulous A league. If Arnie joins the Jets it will just be part of the warp and weft. If he takes John Crawley I will be annoyed but will then be interested to see who gets the gig. I am proud to support the Mariners. I am proud that the smallest team in the League is now never written off by anyone. The response by Mossy and the team to the most difficult of circumstances was extraordinary. Despite WSW having a settled squad and freely having the option to improve it they were unable to put significant distance between us; they have not improved on last year. We have a lot of improvement to come. The only thing I am unhappy about is that it is a long time till the start of the next season.

Glad to beat the sorest bunch of losers I have ever seen, love the comments FFA Wanderers, FFA scheduling, ACL scheduling, westie scum, drivebys, referee hammered us, Ono should have been sent off blah blah blah. What a load of horseshit, you guys created nothing all night, sure fatigue was a huge factor and tbh you guys over achieved after what you went through mid season with the heart pulled out of your team but seriously Ive never heard so much sooking all night. Some even went so far at the Leagues Club last night saying CCM were robbed by the ref as they dominated the contest (lol really, I dont remember Covic making a save) As for Mossy, class act you reckon, maybe, but he has an excuse for every occassion and as the dust settles people will realise that he changed the formation of your team 4 weeks ago and that cost you places in both the GF and ACL Rnd 16, trying to win with the players you've got is always the way to go not trying not to lose, but anyway what do I know Im just driveby scum. Enjoy the off season and no doubt we will be renewing the rivalry next season.
