With the attacking midfield formation of the line of 4, in the cases we have seen when the opposition has gotten past this first line it is great to see those 4 players hunting down those who have gotten past them.

However from viewing it seems they are using a lot of energy that could be saved for attacking opportunities as they become fatigued and passes go a-stray when we gain possession back.

As Kim, Duric get onto the pitch more together, do have intentions of sticking with the same game plan as we have seen?

Or should we expect different ideas and formations as the year progresses depending on if we have a few losses early on, etc?

Clisby and Ziggy seem very high up the pitch as soon as we gain possession.

Traditionally wide fullbacks would be receiving the ball a bit squarer and then move forward with the ball looking for the 1/2’s and then becoming the wing back for effective crosses, etc.

When Fox, Rowles, GG and Ziggy have been playing centre back they seem to have been short on options moving the ball out from the back and often going a long ball play.

Is this an intentional plan?
Or a natural progression from the players and the way it has worked out?

Why do coaches use strikers as wingers like Murray. What is the reasoning behind it.

Is it to get the best players on the field etc.
is it a development issue etc

Staj,

Ziggy looks to read the game very well defensively HOWEVER he doesnt appear to have the speed or the motor to go the full 90mins at RB of a much pacier HAL, which he is yet to fully experience.
(He has been caught out a few times in preseason when he's pushed out of the defensive 'hole' at RB ;))

Have you given any consideration to using Ziggy as the RCB of a back 3 defensive formation,
- which would also allow Rowles to be better utillised as the LCB, as HE TOO is not a 'natural LB' gifted with speed or motor.
- as this WOULD additionally allow an extra attacker up front in a 3-4-3 formation ??

-------- Ziggy ----- Fox/GG -------- Rowles

----------------- Kim ------ Duric --------------

Silvera -------------------------------------- Oar

------------------------- DDS -----------------------
----------------- Muzz ------- Simon ----------

- Clisby sub's for either Rowles/Oar
- McGlinchey for either Oar/Silvera/DDS
- GG for any of the back 3 &or Kim/Duric

I believe this formation would be the best utillisation of the players that we currently have to better play attacking football.

Was Matt Simon rightfully fined big time for letting the fans and club down in the cup semi? And is there a strict fine system in place in general?

Thinking we should go after the elephant, well baby giraffe at least, in the room.

Staj, the player a lot of the most hardcore fans are concerned about is actually Matty Simon. These are long time supporters of his who know his positive attributes well, but are worried about him scoring this year and setting the referees against us, oh and him staying on the park of course.

Also, How is Kim progressing?

Was typing when the above was posted. Seperate question but obviously speaks to fans level of concern.

This, but I think you're being too kind. What does the bloke have to do to lose the captaincy after berating a ref and now costing us a chance at contesting the FFA cup? Additionally what is our obsession with forcing him on the starting XI?

Maybe it’s like Bikini said and Staj thinks the quickest way to getting local supporters offside is to bench Matty. Might be time for the ramble team to bring clarity on this.

Though I have to say, I think it’s mostly likely because Staj, who watches our players the most, still sees Matty as the best option.

If that's the case he's seriously misread the room. Matty has some positive qualities but let's not pretend he would get a gig starting or maybe even on the bench for another A league team, until we rectify that obvious deficiency we're going to be fighting for scraps at the wrong end of the table. Murray might not be the answer but he's got more chance of becoming the answer than Matty does at 33 and we have him locked in for another season after this one. If we can't find a 9 right now we need to develop our own.

With the run we've had I can guarantee Staj that no fan puts any current player above our performance.

We should probably clarify were interviewing over the phone this time.
So some of the more involved questions might have to be missed. We'll do our best though.
