    ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

    If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

    ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Club Ownership

The one he made public, the home attendance number, was always going to be extremely difficult. This would have become clearly obvious after comparing home attendances over the last two massively successful seasons. I would say that this was when he decided to pull the pin. From that point on it was all about cutting expenses and selling players and pawning to limit the his financial liabilities.
This has been my fear for the past several months.. but it is chilling when it’s actually in print.

The off season I suspect, particularly after he heard about the cut in APL funding, has been all about limiting his losses and recouping funds where able, rather than any attempts to make the Club / team viable or successful for the coming season. That holds no purpose when he was about to jump ship.

This essentially crushes all hope that we have any rabbits to pull out of hats to get us into gear or up to strength for the season ahead. Not just the Aleague season but the ACL.

While I bid Peil a radiant farewell and the writing has certainly been on the wall.. this is actually pretty devastating to be honest.

Probably cos they've signed championship players to play in league one.
They weren't profitable for 15 years in the national league though.

And even with all their celeb connections they still lose money.

Man c and Newcastle with oil $, man U with glazers, Liverpool with the Red Sox, Chelsea with bohley or Roman. Milan had Berlusconi.

No club makes profit. It's just how deep are the pockets of the sugar daddy.

This will now be an interesting time and a great challenge for Mark Jackson.
He was going to be severely tested after losing the core of his winning team anyway and was going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat for us to make the six (in my opinion).
Now he is going to have to do the same with a team who knows the dire situation of not only the Club but also the League.
If he can work wonders he will be in demand and able to write his own ticket.
If the season is a disaster he could be a good cheap pickup for a Club which has done its research and can see a brilliant bargain.

Whatever, I wish him well and every success. What he did last year showed me that he is the real deal.

Some interesting character assessments of Dick if you look carefully on Twitter.
Great content as opposed to Gatt's revisionist nonsense

There has to be more to it than the finicially issues if it was just that he would have quit after the the apl announced that funding was being Cut

Just thought this would be a good time to post this.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings—nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run—
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Hang in there.

Hanf in there.
Is Mike Bassett going to be the new manager?
