ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

clarifying a small point about Roy.

on a recording of the game - it's not long before the headbutt. I haven't been able to find any footage apart from the headbutt online. but muscat definitely lays the elbow in, misses and cuts across the eye socket with his wrist. Roy protests to the ref and starts bleeding just after that. then comes the headbutt as they're walking away from that

this (above) is a moment before the headbutt. It's hard to tell but if you look at the video of when O Donovan
has his arms out wide you can just see the beginning of a shine. Looks like it started bleeding after the headbutt to me.

We really need one of those CSI Miami microscopes to blow it up.

the elbow to the head. Then Roy has his arms out appealing where you can see the shine starting.
I can't see blood though.

That shot shows Muscat had no eye contact on the ball as appossed to Roy and has screwed his face bracing himself for a solid hit on Roy, that is assault.
The appeal to the ref is passed away and embellished by this lack of action Muscat comes back at Roy mouthing off and I bet something about wife , mother or race came spewing out and our Celtic boy showed what a low life grub Muscat is as the players code is what goes on ,on the field stays on the field however to go down and try to get a player carded or sent to the MRP flies in the face of this code.

Roy has made three mistakes, the obvious is throwing his head at Muscat (at which a photo on here shows Durante doing the same thing)that too is assault, but the thing that irks is Roy did not take a dive from the elbow and saved Muscat at that point and Muscat didn't just walk away but deliberately baited Roy showing that he is just a grub and the third is Roy for being so naive.

What's annoying about this is that elbowing and (effectively) punching several times and without provocation is going to attract a much smaller penalty than headbutting once after much provocation.

I'm not saying either action is right but there is no way the punishments are going to be fairly distributed

Roy to get 4?

Well it says.....

The MRP determined that the Player committed the offence of R2 – Assault on a Player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball) against Roy O’Donovan (Central Coast Mariners). The MRP proposed a sanction of the Mandatory Match suspension plus one (1) additional Hyundai A-League match, being the minimum sanction for the offence under the Regulations. This equates to two (2) Hyundai A-League matches.

So I presume Roy will have one week plus whatever they add on for the extra naughtiness. But really the other Muscat has been banned for two weeks a couple of times for elbowing an opponent.
So really it should be two weeks for Roy.

However as I've said before because of the news of the fans behaviour I think the FFA will have to show they are totally in control and Roy will end up with 4-6 weeks.
"we don't do violence in football. No biff to see here".
Any more and it'll look like the headbutt is as bad as Muscat's foul on that young kid which he got eight weeks for.

Funny isn't it. If that this had happened in rugby league the bogans would be loving it.
