I think you should all ease up on coastiefan, he is just a young lad trying to express his highly valued opinion :-\

It's YOU! Isn't it!

BINGO!  Give the man the meat tray!

Hahaa, it only took half a dozen posts to work you out. Keensy got pwned. ;)

I'm with Dibo and Bikinigirl. Most of the players weren't regulars anyway, but we are fast running out of time to make some replacements and we need at least a couple of quality players. I think we have till the end of August don't we?

Anyway, I am keen for June 30th to pass so we can see if there are some deals already done that just can't be spoken about yet. If nothing happens during the following week, I will be seriously concerned then.

The longer we go the less preseason time the team has together. Short seasons make this a negative.

You got it in one, I tried to say that a few hundred posts ago but no one had an opinion on this major predicament!!!

Kwasnik,McAndrew & Trott all gone, who is gonna make up the squad?
If another a-league team announced these three as new signings do you think their fans would get excited?? ???
We need new faces but I wouldn't be overly concerned just yet. 8)

I think that the extra money now available should be spent on this fine team of atheletes (Nerds FC).

You would have to get rid of the BiggusNerdus of them all the guy on the right with the red shirt.

With all of the lay offs who will be replacing them?

If you have been reading this forum for the last few days. You will know that not even the club can seem to answer this question (at the moment) let alone anyone on this forum. We have vacant marquee and junior marquee spots which mean that we didnt need to free up any cash to bring in any extra special players

So if this is not the plan then why the mass lay offs?  If the current trend continues we will hardly have a team to field in the season proper.  When there are mass lay offs in the business world it is either the workers are going to be replaced by machines, the company is losing too much money and cost cutting is the only way to stay afloat or the money is being invested in some big time managers/players.  Which is the closest description in this situation?

As dibo said, if there were any answers they would be in this thread.  Unfortunately I don't have the time to sift through the 72 pages of (mostly) drivel this thread has generated to try and find answers.  All I am saying is that the radio silence from the club is eery.

how is the kwassy situation a layoff?

fact is - we wanted to keep and gave him a payrise, yet he went to another club for 50% more than his new offer

this whole sack elrich, keep kwasnik thing is just stupid - we were aiming to have both in our squad, signed elrich, was on the verge of signing kwasnik, yet he went for a better offer

as far as we know kwasnik still would have went even if we didn't sign elrich or carceras

Not sure what/who your source is Mick but 50% is no where near right, there is more to the Kwasnik situation than documented but fact is he's gone and I wish him luck!

The club will move forward, they will find suitable replacements, I just hope it's not too far away as a team needs time to gel and there's not a huge amount of that left before pre-season/Rd 1!

Game at canberrra was good, mariners won 2-1.

Belco took the leed from a great goal, for a state league side they showed some solid 1 touch passing and realy dominated the mariners in the first half.

Mariners pegged two back in the second half scored two from the middle of the park, both great goals. I cant tell you who they were as they didnt have ny names on the shirts, but im pretty sure it was different people that scored.... they were both small CM/AM :p

A few interesting things was heff played in midfield for alot of the game, Elrich had a great game, lazy but he whipped in some killer balls from the wing and Jamie Mcallister did some good work up front.

All in all its easy to see that this will be an entirely different team to that of last year.

Post any questions and i will try to answer them.

(sorry about the spelling, grammer and my all round poor ability to get what i think onto a page :) )

It felt like it was about 2 degrees which didnt help !!!

That story about LM not getting the SU mids ............ do anyone know if that was a big part of our Hal 4 squad.

Also looking at mids, Hutch, Jedi, Osman, Elrich, Porter, Caceres, Owens, where is the creative play going to come from....... Hutch maybe ...... Porter have not seen enough to comment, Owens not sure if he is up to it the others all speed and angles, aside from Jedi ........ creative ? ! WIP I think.

Osman will be at right back. I don't consider Hutch a creative mid, he's more defensive. Shields the ball beautifully, in fact one of the best I've seen anywhere. He plays more square, short passes, rather than cything passes. Although he has done it, setting up Kwa$$ for his goal against scum in the semi is an example.

We've got loads of talent and depth in midfield but lack a player in the hole behind the front two, who's good for six goals a season. Yorke is a classic example of this type of player.

As many others have said, we need a centre half for depth (Stringers doesn't cut it for me) and someone in the hole behind the front two and possibly a striker if Nik breaks down again.
