Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Believe me Arab, it is 100% correct.

I did think Wilko was very good with Bojic last week against the scum though.
Yeah I must admit our defence was the one part of our game last week we could be happy with.

Regarding Wilko and his injury(s) you would think at some point they will catch up with him if he's not given the time to recover properly.

Agreed, sooner or later something has to give. It is amazing the injuries these guys play with. They don't earn anything near what they should.

it's not so much a problem of will as economics Im sure the club and the league would gladly see them paid buckets more, but the money simply isnt there at this stage.

Any chance we might swoop again on a Marquee of sorts this year (like we did with Aloi$i)

I can think of a couple of Aussies not playing - Troisi? and Milligan (though we probably don't want him)

we could pay him up to $150k (presumably pro rata though) under the youth marquee thing, i doubt he'd be cleared to be a full marquee.

Yep - was thinking more Youth than full Marquee. He would be a decent buy even if it was 12 months....

i would like to see
                      Vukovic
Bojic    Wilko (fit)    Boogs      Heff
                  Jedi
Elrich        Hutch          Caceres
              Sasho
Macca (Mrdja once out of cotton wool)
reasons: Bojic played quite a bit in England as a RB (dunno if he played CB at all), scored a few goals, had a bucket load of assists from crosses...he would be quite an asset going forward. However if Wilko keeps playign bad maybe shift him back to CB- if wilko/boog not playin just put him CB and put Osman on at RB!
Macca and Mrdja cant play together IMO. I am quite sceptical of 2 out and out strikers...I like Sasho as a 2nd striker because I feel thats where he plays best...but i dunno if Mrdja could do that (def. not Macca)

"The Club"  once known as Total Football last night said two clubs were negotiating with Edgar Davids. Only elaboration was it was not Sydney.

Assume it would be someone who doesnt have a Marquee.

So that would presumably rule out Scum, Tards and Bling and Perth??

On that shaky logic, we would have a 50:50 chance of being one of the 2 clubs.

Marquees :

Sydney - Aloi$i
Melbourne - Archie
QLD - Moore
Mariners - None
Nix - None
Scum - Zura
Adelaide - Agostino
Perth - None

Unless I'm wrong?

A team could be offering a guest stint though! Would have to be someone with money as he wouldn't be cheap lol

So many "ifs" and "maybes"....

I'm sure if the Mariners looked like having a chance of signing Davids, Lowy's club and Lowy's Federation could surely arrange some sort of loophole that allowed them to sweep him from under anyone else's nose.

Floss, the way it works is we have the player first.... THEN sydney come in and swoop them up after the players contract has expired.

looks good to me

such an uninspiring list - too old, too injured or too unproven

Yes, I understand all of that Dibo and agree with you. My comment was based on the fact that at this early stage of the league they don't get near enough well compensated. Of course as time goes on, that'll change.

I'd be very suprised and disappointed if we are not at least enquring about Troisi. I bet we are.

He'd easily be the most exciting young player in the league and our missing "link". We'd be very, very competitive with him in our side.

Same program said Jets were deep in discussion with him
