ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Gym sessions, video analysis, recovery are all done indoors. Plus if games are played during the day they should be training in the daytime to prepare.
I agree, there’s definitely plenty that can be done without a pitch or a ball at their feet. But I still feel like a facility would make sense - from a property development point of view the building would be perfect as a gym if the club were to sell / outgrow / not properly utilise it. Could probably sublet or run some junior programs on it outside of the clubs desired windows to bring in some extra income or at least offset cost.

As for game timing and temps I agree they need to be accustomed to it but if we’ve got a run of days where it’s over 30 at 9am then it’s going to impact how much they can get done.

Back to the squad. I still think we will be getting another visa player. A lot of windows close in just over a week so if I am right and the player is not a free agent then we would expect to probably hear something next week. This is not based on any knowledge just on the fact that Monty knows the English game so well.

As for Jem and Bouman (if any deal falls through) I'd also be happy to see them here.

A for the rest of the squad players I wouldn't mind seeing young players that left on good terms return, especially those that not only played for the academy but were Coasties.

I think I can finally tell my Tommy and Wout story.

Was the night of the Wellington away game where De Silva and Hoole absolutely carved the Phoenix.

Ended up late at night in some bar and run into Tommy and Wout with their partners. Have a conversation and was about to leave and Tommy says “don’t tell Paolo and Ivan we are here”. No problems.

Go to another bar and a couple of other Mariners players (shall remain nameless) are there. Conversation there ends with “don’t tell Paolo and Ivan we are out”. No problems.

Finished in the early hours at a nightclub where I run into half the coaching/support staff (minus Paolo and Ivan). The usual “don’t tell Paolo and Ivan we are out” gets pleaded to me.

I had to laugh because Okon probably thought he had this mental hold over the players and his staff and thought he was being “professional” by giving them a curfew.

Top away trip. It was one of the best performances under Okon, one of the best by De Silva in our colours, and that Saturday night was pumping in Wellington.

We don’t NEED another keeper. Birraz can train with the youth keeper, And if he gets injured we use the injury relief fund to replace him with the best we can get from npl. When we have a very limited budget, spending a
Component on a player we have no intent of playing unless Birraz gets injured is wasted cash.
How quickly do those mechanisms kick in? Is it viable if he's out for a game with a 5 or 6 day turn around or would you play the academy keeper and hope for the best? How about if he's out for 2 or 3 weeks or games in a compressed calendar? I would have thought the injury funds/concessions/insurance only really kick in for longer term injuries.

Added to which Birraz does throw himself round a bit. While he was pretty robust last season his style of play lends itself to injury. Unless you have an os academy keeper ready to make the step a la Maty Ryan I'd rather have some cover.

Thats crazy! We need a good reserve like every club. Most clubs have 3 but we are cheap arse so can scrape through on 2. I would be happy with Munford because he looked like a quality keeper at training and is a good bloke too.
