If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

maybe someone isn't coming back from loan? Maybe the Mariners can't count? Maybe I'm just wrong....

I don't think Griffiths has been announced yet. It has only been a 442 exclusive at this point and nothing from CCM. Really hope he will be with us though.

He will, he's been signed as a defender

SO that's Wilkinson + Doig + Griffiths + Sainsbury in defence.
Still need a DM and an AM as the key signings. The rest will be icing I think.

Those last 4 signings better be impressive or its going to be a long season  ???

GA also mentioned 4 new visa places - so that would mean Doig or Wee-Mac going.

meh, if wee mac goes hes replaceable. no place for him in a squad with a good #10 anyway, just more splinters in his arse

Not so sure pj, i remember hearing that wee mac is not counted cos he is a kiwi. Could be wrong though.

Noticed Crowell played in the friendly. Has he been given a new contract?
Or has the existing one not yet expired and they don't want to pay him out?

Would guess they havent decided whether to keep or let go.

They would not have to pay him out in advance as could let him go and pay him the extra week or so of his wages this week

I'm a bit surprised they let Huke go and are still making up their mind about Crowell.
Of course they saw more of Huke than I did; I guess they saw the bad games as well, while I probably only saw the good stuff.

Huke was not convincing for mine. Good tackler and aggressive but never looked fantastic on the ball.
Played great against the Scum and was terrible the following week.
Never really forced anyone to take notice apart from that one good game at Right Back.

Crowell has been similar.  Not terrible but never really shone.  OK to keep as squad player but i think we can do better.

i think it might have been as simple a difference as fitness wise. If 2 players are same ability, logical to keep the less injury prone one...
That said one positive of Huke over Crowell would be not taking a visa place...

Yes including 2 visa players

Vukovic, Ryan, Rose, Gallagher, Griffiths, Doig, Bojic, Sainsbury, Wilkinson, Porter, Hutchinson, Lewis, McGlinchey, Amini, Kwasnik, Warren, McBreen, Mrdja & Simon.

Wee-mac I assume will get an OS gig - especially if he can impress at the WC - so 18 and 1 visa player if he goes.

Those last four are critical because the armoury to put on goals is still not there. It looks like GA has gone for a lot of young ones with potential. I assume that is (1) because they show potential and (2) to leave room in the cap to chase the remaining 3 visa spots.

So the Argie #10, two speedy and skilful wingers and a smaller, more agile goal poacher will do nicely thanks.

You have 3 strikers who are like it or not very much first XI style players.... Simon, McBreen and MarinerTard (he's named for life I'm afraid).  Thats also a pretty darn expensive striker group at most likely comfortably over $500k for the 3.  As much as you need it, I really can't see anyone spending another $150-200k+ on another 'goal poacher' style striker

Based on MarinerTards performances in the dark blue, thats one NYL striking spot locked in for next season

With Archie probably out for next season, the Tards might make Nik or the club or both an offer that can't be refused.
