Wow, what can I say after such an amazing night.

Fantastic game Matty Ryan. As many ppl have said b4 me, that double save was amazing and then to see him scream his encouragement to the boys after, great display.

Kwas - will admit I do have a bias here, but fantastic game. Even when he wasn't scoring at least he was putting in the defensive effort.

McBreen - hmmm, he just looked totally uninterested in getting above a walk for the majority of the game. Arnie, please leave him out for next week and give one of the young boys a chance, they at least show enthusiasm and love for our fantastic team.

In fairness to McUseless, I thought he did more than the wonderful, all-conquering Smeltz. I've said before I don't rate this guy, if it doesn't get laid on a plate for him, he does bugger all. There was one time I had to laugh, there was Macca a mirror image of Smeltz, just standing watching, hands on hips. One up one end, one down the other. I wonder if Perth want McB back, he'd go well with Smeltz.

Loved the game... intensity in the stands was amazing. Must admit every game I go to, I come home with a crook back from sitting on the edge of my seat... a pain I'm willing to deal with for our team!!

Matty Ryan... all I can say is WOW. I bet he' still buzzing after that outstanding game. He can make some monumental stuff ups at times BUT, he stood tall last night and made it all count. Props to you kid, you have an amazing career ahead of you. Please stay at the Mariners for another few years!!

Musti always brings that added spark to the game when coming on which is great to see!!

McFail.... was ok last week and got a goal, BUT what a slow uninspiring player last night. Please Arnie, boot him and sign a striker that wants to play AND can score and shows energy and enthusiasm!!

Lets hope for all our sake, that all those near misses & missed opportunities actually go in the back of the net next week!! As shown before, Roar will crucify us if we don't!! ohh yeah, to all mariners player... please have a few shots outside the 18yd box in the 1st half and let the keeper know you will shoot from anywhere... test him out a little!! It was always looking like we wanted to walk it over the line in the first 30mins

BRING ON THE SNORE!!! :pirashoot: :pirashoot:

Not a great game but a Fantastic night.

I think the crowd was around 9,500 but not sure if its FFA lying as usual or CCM putting a bit of spare cash in the back pocket? Regardless the atmosphere was fantastic with only real Football fans there and no emos.

We generally always had the game in hand but were occasionally sloppy and but for Ryan being totally on top of his game we could have conceeded a couple.

Ryan 9pts. Outstanding and my MOM. Great game and even when he did his one calamity, his recovery to rob Djjite was worth the admission money on its one. His best game of the year.
Sainsbury 5.5. Train wreck waiting to happen. A ball watcher. Did ok going forward but is not a HAL fullback in a million years.
Wilko 7.5. Great game. Looked after Sainsbury very well.
Ducthy 7.5. Quality. Totally composed. Cracking header.
Rose 7.5 Superb in first half.
WeeMac 7. Solid and helped out Sainsbury alot.
Griffiths 8.5 Superb. Looking like he is going to be even better than Jedi at his current rate of development.
Perez 7. Slightly off but still a real handful. I'd like to see him shoot when around the edge of the box a little more.
Olly 8. Great game.
McBreen 5.5. Missed an absolute sitter and was off the pace BUT put himself about. Simon must start next week.
Kwas 7. Worked hard and had a real go. Finish was good. Deserves to start next week.

Subs;
Amini. He was great and haven't heard a roar like that since Gumpy use to come on late in a game.
Simon. Looked totally up for it and played with talent and intelligence. We were better when he came on.
Hutcho. OK.

Great night
Thank you Marinators the coast you wish you were loved it
Players signs fantastic very effective
Thankyou matty ryan
Thank you kwasnick
See you at the G F

A game for the Football Fanatic. All behind the ball when other side had it & it worked.
Great win and well deserved. Fab to see Arnold having faith in youth! Mat Ryan man-of-the-match. BB1

Don`t you love it when he plays ordinary but scores & everyone forgives that he wasn`t that good & slams McBreen

McBreen was absolute rubbish. Kwasnik put a goal on his foot in the first 3 mins and he still couldn't put it away. He can't hold the ball and he cant dribble either.

Kwasnik was much better when Simon came on and he was the pick of our strikers last night.

Just admit you were wrong. There's no harm in it. We'll all still love you!

Crap basically Wombat! He had a solid if not wonderful game defensively, and a poor game going forward where he found beating players takes a bit more than in the NYL. I'd give him 7.

Get off the kids back.

Putting that aside - Wonderful, wonderful night where as has been said the crowd (yes about 9K+) were fans not band-waggoners.

Big cheer for the bloke in Bay 7 in the grey check shirt standing facing the crowd and going red in the face trying to get "c'mon Mariners, lets go!" .. going once in each half! He didn't need to - the crowd was on to every play. Crowd didn't want to leave either afterwards.

Even bigger ups to Musty, Bernie, and very especially Matt Ryan who spend huge amount of time signing autographs, getting photos taken, glad-handing, etc.

Agreed. That was the biggest game of the night he comes in with what three games at this level and basically did his job (so be it with help from others but that was their job) His vision on some of his passes was brilliant. He will make it as the comparison is against players 10 years older.

A wonderful game & sensational atmosphere!!!

Congratulations to everyone involved,it makes me proud to be a "REAL" Coastie.

Big cheers to the guys in bay 16. Fantastic banners & such enthusiastic chants & cheers.Just a reminder though, it takes the crowd a while to pick up the drum beat but once they do it`s sensational so keep it going a little longer... :eek:verhead:

It was day to remember, starting with Lawrie & Mark Bosnich in the Kendal Bar ,an exciting game, & the players lap of honour

The look on the player`s faces was priceless as the fans congratulated them. However the highlight for me was Matt Ryan who personally congratulated, signed & had a photo with just about every crowd member on the eastern side...that was GOLD!!!

As far as the game goes I thought Griffith was sensational!! MOM for mine.Olly, Glinch, "Sir" Alex, Dutchy,Rosey were all solid.

Perez was a bit disappointing especially in the first 25mins but he eventually got into the game.(He needs a lot of practice with the freekicks though.)

Sainsbury had a mixed game but overall he did a good job. He made a fantastic run around the 8th minute but failed to receive the ball when open on the penalty spot. He (at least) tried to emulate Pedj with his forward runs in the first half but, with little or no support in front of him he was unable to penetrate.

McBreen was sensational when he came off!!! & that really gave us a chance with Matty on.

Kwas is a likeable guy but f..k! me he can be frustrating!! Great cross in the opening 5 mins then a 70min snooze before scoring the winner
It`s a pity we don`t have interchange...

Musti must have felt 10 ft tall to most amazing welcome I have heard for a sub!!!The crowd went nuts for him & he didn`t let them down!

Cheers also to Hutch :piralaugh: , he sacrificed himself in getting a yellow card but it such a crucial tackle.

Finally Matty Ryan, what a terrific double save!!!
I asked Bozza what he thought of Ryan(Kendal Bar) & he said Ryan would be a future Australian goalkeeper. There can be no higher praise coming from arguably Australias greatest keeper.Treasure the moments MR..

Congratulations again to best team the Mariner`s have ever had!!!!

Ha ha Scotty you`re a funny bugger!!!

a)I agree McBreen was rubbish
b)I agree Kwasnik was ordinary until Simon came on
(except first 5 mins)
c) I agree Simon was the pick of our strikers

so where did I go wrong? Or are you saying we`re both wrong? :piralaugh:

Crap basically??? ...sounds like you half agree with me.

What i said was unpalatable but true.

I just watched the game on IQ and he looked slightly better than watching him live. I'll upgrade him to 6 because he just about got the job done but the fact is he is NOT a very good player at this stage. Maybe FB doesn't suit him but Porter is a far better option as back up RB for mine.
I actually had him in my starting 11 and was rooting for the kid but he wasn't up to much sadly.

Congratulations lads... a well deserved victory.

Although we were completely devastated that we were out after being so close, we swallowed our pride and clapped off the mariners players and gave them a song "BEAT THE ROAR, BEAT THE ROAR, BEAT THE ROAR"
After all, i would hate to see those scum win the double!

Atmosphere was good... both groups were going all match from what i could see (not that i was paying much attention to bay 16... was focused on keeping our lads going)
But can anyone verify that the cops there are absolute knobs? They were harassing members of the Beach all night for no reason saying things like "you are too drunk" when some of the people werent even drinking. I thought it was poor form from the cops when mariners scored and the cops raided our bay and started arresting/evicting people because apparently we were too emotional about our team losing. WTF?!

Anyway, best of luck in the finals guys, hope you beat the orange bastards.

That's a pity Jenkins.
Partying behaviour in this country has DRASTICALLY changed as to whats considered acceptable and Police the country over don't in general seem to understand football support. They see people full of emotion jumping around and yelling - and that for them usually spells trouble. BUT in a football game, it's normal and not to be feared.

Well played to GCU, I thought we deserved the win, but you are a MASSIVELY more likeable club without Culina whining, pouting and blaming his way through every game.

Hope you enjoyed your trip and thanks for coming.

Personally I am not sold on Sainsbury, I think his body position on those high balls from GCU (did they think we were playing League?)was quite suss but he recovered well in the second half, and his forward runs are good. As for McBreen, my Palace supporting mate, an unbiased watcher of the match, at Bluetongue for the first time, thinks that the fans don't appreciate the work he does upfront. He thinks he pressures and intimidates the defenders and does a lot of the unsong donkey work. (cue: obvious donkey jokes).

Your mate must be mixing him up with Matty or Kwassie. Tell him he is number 2.
