ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

CCM v GCU

Personally I am not sold on Sainsbury, I think his body position on those high balls from GCU (did they think we were playing League?)was quite suss but he recovered well in the second half, and his forward runs are good. As for McBreen, my Palace supporting mate, an unbiased watcher of the match, at Bluetongue for the first time, thinks that the fans don't appreciate the work he does upfront. He thinks he pressures and intimidates the defenders and does a lot of the unsong donkey work. (cue: obvious donkey jokes).

eeeeaaaawwww,eeeeeaaaaawwwwww,eeeeeaaaaawwwwwlways says that...lol
Are you happy now?!!

They absolutely carved us with that first chance that Ryan saved - Minniecon to Djite? Coming on the back of McBreen's early miss, it made me very nervous. It was an early warning for Big Pat and Sir Alex and they both did really well from then on. I thought Sainsbury did OK considering.
Matt Ryan had his best game yet and now I've just bought 12 final tickets - happy days.

I reckon that first chance was marginally offside but not fussed with the call either way.

As for McBreens donkey work, if that was all he was required to do then great, but its not and he needs to be less of a donkey in attack.

We need a thoroughbred in a attack not a donkey. Someone with speed and desire of which a donkey has neither. Maybe Palace might be interested in taking him from our books.

Question: why do we defend corners with 11 in the penalty box?? Surely there should be at least one player up front positioned wide on the same side as the corner is taken to to maybe pick up the clearance. Or at least put the opposition under some pressure and preventing the ball coming back so quickly.

I have been wondering the same thing for a long time. It makes no sense especially when the opposition leaves 3 or 4 players out of the box. Only inviting trouble really

Agreed - can't honestly think of any reason why Perez, or Amini, needs to be defending, much better if he is available for the outlet pass. Mind you, GCU did the same.

I for one am not sold on McBreen (Kwassie either for that matter).
Watch Matty Simon, he constantly puts pressure on defenders by moving in on them quickly. He may not win the ball all the time but the defenders do spray the occasional pass to one of our players in the front third. :eek:verhead:
McBreen on the other hand is no threat to the defenders as he just ambles along.
The reality is that if he wasn`t breathing so heavy the seagulls would land on him.
