CCM Injury and Suspensions list 2008/9

Yeh, and Melbourne who get two suspensions and start whinging and lose a game to the Roar.

Things were worse for us earlier in the season where we had the likes of McAllister, Petrovski, Jedinak injured as well as many of the above. Add to that representative duties from Simon and Jedinak and I reckon we've done really well to be so competitive.

Bosnich expects to play farewell

September 29, 2008

CENTRAL Coast goalkeeper Mark Bosnich is expected to be fit for the final match of his short term contract with the A-League club.

It was initially feared Bosnich's stint with the Mariners was over after the former Aston Villa custodian sustained a hamstring injury at the start of his side's 4-1 win over Perth on Friday.

But Bosnich said the news from doctors was positive, indicating he had strained his hamstring muscle, not torn it.

He expected to be available for the match against Wellington in a fortnight, his last scheduled game in the seven week contract with the Mariners.

It seems to be all fine, the doctors have still to discuss it with the club doctor but their initial reading is good news, Bosnich told News Limited newspapers.

While Friday is a bit soon, I should be fit to face Wellington after that, he said.

Bosnich is still weighing up his options about what do when his short term deal concludes but will struggle to get another A-League contract and unless another keeper gets injured.

To have that many big hitters unavailable and to get the results we have so far is a testament to the depth within the Mariners squad.

TBH the only 1 I miss there is Heff, and even then Bojic has done a great job filling in, when Heff does return I hope he doesn't lose his spot, perhaps move him to the right!  Bozza isn't first choice, he's a guest, when Danny is back he'll be number 1 and tbh Id choose him over Bozza anyway!  Gumpy is a squad player and has been for the past 15 months, Owens is also what I consider a squad player, when he plays IMO he's sometimes far too greedy and shots from distance more than he should, Elrich is a first choice player due to what he's done in the past and we live in hope he can re-produce, but IMO didn't set the world alight in his 2 games but was improving!

I'm very happy with our depth this year, great job Lawrie :)

No chance would I choose Danny over Bozza if those options were there, Danny was rubbish in the game against FC and Bozza has been all class in these games.

i'd have danny in a heartbeat over bozza

people have short memories and forget how danny has saved our arse on many occasions in the last three seasons

a bit naive and shortsighted to judge danny on one game against sydney when he has been so supreme in the countless games before that

. but i'd also say that danny hasn't been great in the few games he has played since 'the incident'

. and since he has played so little recently some may say that it is naive to suggest his form could be determined by his past conquests

. both good keepers

Omni hang on a minute you cant judge Danny on 1 bad performance this season when he knew he had to sit out 5 weeks so im sure he can be excused with the fact he was denied what he wanted in the Olympics.

Bozza has been simply awesome and i wish we could retain him just for what he was done for Danny and Redmayne.

Im sure Danny will be raring to go at some stage in the Pheonix game or the game after.

Bozza deserves everything he will have at the Pheonix game but my good friends at Hill St will have to get him on the park first - Bozza was there this morning, my dad was in there at the same time.

No excuses, if you're given the start you do your job, if I feel down at work I'm expected to do my job regardless. If Danny was playing crap because he was suspended then he shouldn't have been given the game. Form says a lot in football, if your out of form against a player who is in form then why should you be given the start especially when there's such little gap between them.

As for 'judging a player by one game' all the fans seem to judge referees by one game (or even one second) so why not players?

For the record, I'm using the Sydney game as an example I just think Bozza is a better keeper than Vukovic.

yes bozza is a better keeper and the fans need to see him play his last game with danny watching and observing so he can get better? ask danny himself will agree?

In all seriousness, Bozza is by far the best keeper playing in the HAL.

Just training with him will make Danny a better keeper

I know, sorry, just get sick of ref bashing sometimes so thought I'd make a point of it here even if it wasn't a good one ;)

McKinna Hails Youth League Assist

Jon Ritson
Sep 30 2008 12:22

EXCLUSIVE: 'Majestic' Greg Owens will miss out on facing former club Adelaide United on Friday but his current boss believes the National Youth League can help speed up his return.

It has been a frustrating start to the new season for Owens due to a hamstring injury but the 27-year-old did get a late run out from the bench as the Mariners crashed 1-0 to Perth Glory in the NYL last weekend.

Paul OGrady also played for an hour and McKinna is delighted that both players now have a competitive platform to help them return to the first team picture.

The Mariners boss told au.fourfourtwo.com: I think its great we now have a situation where players have this chance to get match time under their belts as part of their rehab.

Im looking forward to having Greg back because I think hes one of the most exciting, attacking midfielders in the league.

We saw it in flashes last year and for me I think hes a real majestic player when hes running at people.

Andre Gumphrect is still five or seeks (sic) away from a return to action after a knee injury but has resumed training with the squad.

McKinna said: He is doing everything possible to make sure he is fully fit.

I'm guessing they mean Gumpy is five or six weeks away from a return which would be mid November.

That statement sucks becuase people like Matthew Breeze have bad games every week and hes a soon to be no 1 ref in Australia after also just as bad Shields retires

Bojic is now on 4 yellow cards. It might be better to get the 5th out of the way against Wellington so he can sit out against the scum. After that, we've got the smurfs away, Adelaide at home and the tards away. Wouldn't like to see him missing for the smurfs or tards games.

I would rather him sit out the Wellington game and Lawrie use Tadrosse or D'Apuzzo, allowing him to play the game against the Scumf**kers.

alternatively, play the filthy scum and get the 5th yellow after putting Judas on a stretcher

And then potentially miss a game against Sydney FC, Adelaide or Melbourne???? Surely we can beat the scumf**kers fairly easily with their current injury list.
