ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Too old out of touch and out of condition, he won't have what it takes.

Nobody else wants him so we'll give him a go. hmmmm.

Will be over 100 soon.

Age has nothing to do with it when it comes to keeping....Peter Schmichael was 40 when he finished at Man City

Fact is if he is fit and sharp then at 36 I have no issue - in fact many goal keepers have played top flight into their 40's

yeh i agree,
its the same with khan and seaman both lasted pretty long

All those keepers mentioned didn't have 5 years out of the game thou!

Lawrie won't sign him if he's not good enough, simple as that!  However, he may be influenced to sign him from others associated with the Mariners!

I'm not convinced but the only way I can change my opinion is by seeing him in action!

Deej - agree and that is why I stated we are doing it the right way - trialling him....

Hopefully, should also attract more bums on seats and memberships at what is usually the lowest part of the season.

Age has nothing to do with it. ? "Peter Schmichael was 40 when he finished at Man City" So he didn't retire then. ? Bosnich is too old and too out of touch been out of the game too long and more importantly doesn't have the passion but he might get a start in over 35's on CC.

Lets hope he isn't the marquee signing.

Not a chance. They wont even sign him yet. Bozza should pay us to give him exposure.

NO I can't see him being marquee either (for a full season, maybe). But as to exposure, more people around the world know of Mark Bosnich than they do of the Mariners. I think the exposure would be beneficial to both parties involved. We get global recognotion and he gets to showcase his skills to bigger club$.

At present he is only rumoured as training with us, have to wait and see I guess.

If he didnt have the passion, would he have put in all the effort to get back into condition? And maybe you need to read previous posts - 36 is not to old for a keeper, most keepers peak in/around their 30's. Look at keepers like Kahn, Van der Sar, Schmeichel, and as also previously mentioned Pat Jennings. All played (or are playing) well into their 30's, some to their 40's. Anyhow, we'll wait and see - but I think (hope) he'll be v.good for us.

He did play a "friendly" in September last year (yes I know its a friendly etc etc) but he last played for Chelsea in 2002/3..... I have concerns regarding the gap but if he has been training and he is fit, and if he impresses LM and JC then we should all be ok with it. It won't be for the season - only whilst Danny is suspended..... (I hope....)

Yeah - no 'competitive' games since his last match for Chelski.. But still, I'm very glad we're trialling him, as Jaypee said I hope he impresses.
