I'm not sure if it was just the camera's or my memory or what, but does Elrich look a lot leaner than when he first came to us? the bloke looks about 10 kilo's lighter than how i remember him.

Just on Elrich ... I have a soft spot for him ... but if his forms come backs and to me he is trying ... that it is not always paying off ... is totally different to if he was just hoofing the ball up the park and not tracking back in defense.... Remember he has had almost 3 years of injury ... he is worth match time  a while longer IMO ... 

Agreed, dont write him off yet, he's had a shocker the last few years (not least missing Germany) and has a way to go yet, i hope the club gives him time, more often than not, hes worth every minute. if he eventually fires along like his brother, we have a formidable midfield. Porter, Travis weemac, Elrich + subs = Dynamic F***ing quick, and good to watch

Meaning we have two players in Travis, McGlinchy who will be playing to prove they are ready to return to the EPL.. the Mariner signings have the potential to tear the A-League apart.

I still stand by my pre season prediction that Wee Mac & Travis will take us to the grand final...

Wee Mac just owned the park today ... and with Travis on the park they will carve all sides apart... I think today was there first match together in a start up team ... lovely to watch...

TBH and a big ... nay very BIG call but Wee Mac performance was about the best display of a center mid I have seen by a Mariner and that includes both Jedi & Tommy P....

Wee Mac was superb but I rate Jedi's performance against Sydney when we came back from 0-3 to 3 all the most dominant display. Pity, Wee Mac isn't as Aussie, he could take Cullina's spot... and as someone in the crowd said - we're not calling for Gumprecht to come on!

Its a darn shame that these players are not at full strength. They will be called on at some stage to play ad we need them to lift like the team did last night.

With HUKE and CROWELL hopefully showing better form than those two in the near future as well as NIKOS improving every week Elrich d'Apuzzo and Kwassies involvement in the first squad will be in their FANTASY teams only

Since this is turning into the "bitch about the players that are playing shite thread" i will put my shout out for Brad Porter. He finally gets a game in midfield, was talking up how much he will improve there to everyone around me. He then fails to do much more then create space by running up and down the side line for 20 odd minuets. sigh.

Yes, he can score with either. Remember a couple of seasons ago at the SFS.

To be fair though he hasn't played much in midfield.  Usually he's in the backs and he does a fairly decent job.  There was quite a lot of negativity from the crowd when he came on last night.  But at least he puts in a good effort on the paddock unlike Mrdja (but we won't open that wound again).

The negativity was towards Lawrie because he replaced Travis. Not many realised that Travis had just taken a knock.

If we can stay clear of injuries and Huke comes back in and does his thing, we will have a very competitive squad. Especially in the midfeild.
I think our backline is set in stone (Heff, boogs, doig, wilko)
Not too sure about mids, though atm i like how we ran it last night, not sure how Huke will fit in, off bench, who's spot would he take? on current form it would be difficult to get a start. Any suggestions?
