ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Australian Football Stuff - not worthy of a thread

Presumably CCM will still be forced to play a youth team against grown men?
It's not the worst outcome as a development club.

Sure it would be nice to have the academy operate as a proper reserve team (rather than just a development pipeline) but that is never going to happen given the disconnect between the a-league and the NPL and so little overlap between seasons.

Most of the players in the golden generation came into the NSL at 18-20 and were playing against men and a step up from the NPL.

Viduka was both under 21 player of the year and Johnny Warren medal winner 2 years in a row - he was only 19/20 in those 2 seasons.

I realise they weren't playing as part of a team that was fully under age but the younger age shouldn't be a physical barrier - most of the boys are fully grown by 20 and the body adapts pretty quickly to the increased demands of the game.

The argument of men against boys is less the physical differences but usually comes down to the experience of the older player in physical contests and decision making. They aren't necessarily bigger and stronger - just smarter.
