ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Feel free to move but:

Macarthur FC players Matthew Millar and Jed Drew have been named in court documents to have allegedly participated in a bet-fixing scheme.

Are they the ones not good enough to do it properly in the later games. It was mentioned two failed attempts later on.

So many of them it’s almost insulting if you weren’t asked.

Good articulate report on ABC News: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/9CYm7LjA5B4wG2JJ/

I just wish they had also included the issue of media control/bias and lack of marketing as reasons for domestic football not getting to their potential audience.

It always irks me to see codes like NRL and AFL getting vastly more coverage than the A-League thanks mainly to the Murdoch media and other media outlets. Even the ABC doesn't provide A-League match reports.

The A-League has hundreds of good stories to tell. Yet all you get are stories about NRL biffo boys getting an ingrown toenail or an AFL players ruptured testicle, or someone's latest offensive tattoo.

They could also have talked about the hundreds of millions in govt grants to the AFL and NRL over the last ten years as compared with bugger all for the A League.
Good point, although Bruce did touch on that briefly but got cut off.

They also didn't fully make the connection between the cost of junior football and the Matildas and Socceroos. It's OK to complain about paying $1,000s for grass roots, but the Socceroos and Matildas (and Olyroos, Joeys, Pararoos, et al) don't come cheap. I can't see the AFL paying a lot of money out for their International teams!

How much of the $3k to play for Mariners or CCU (or any other NPL club) would actually be reduced though? Or the $250 to play in the CCF comp?

Old has been like Ziggy and O'Donovan would just get bigger $$ and clubs would have bigger cash hordes. Or FFA would buy a second floor in Shelley Street.

The average mum and dad wouldn't see much of a reduction in what they have to fork out.

There's very little evidence showing that the high fees translate into funding national teams or that more money to fund national teams would trickle down to make football cheaper for the grassroots.
