If Bahrain go on to lose tonight, then as long as they don't win on Wednesday against Qatar and Qatar take a maximum of 2 points from tonights and Wednesday's game then a win on Wednesday has us through.

In other words, if we win on Wednesday and neither Bahrain nor Qatar win tonight or Wednesday, we're through.

If Bahrain beats Qatar or vice versa on Wednesday they can get a maximum of 13 points so they're mathematically still in it. In all practical terms we're in, but the champagne has to stay on ice until it's done.

you're still having daylight saving time on Wednesday? Or does it end tonight (as we are getting daylight saving time tonight)?

Qatar have subsituted a man through injury and have lost a man through an expulsion for a pretty ordinary challenge.

Even before that they were struggling - the Uzbeks look good to do the job in Tashkent.

it seems that it is just up to you on Wednesday...

what are the chances that you'll win, i.e. what level is Uzbekistan playing on? could they be a stumbling block(?)?

They are a potential stumbling block. We beat them 1-0 in Tashkent. Being Australian Football supporters, we take nothing for granted. Having said that, the fact Uzbekistan played tonight and now have to travel 30 odd hours arriving Monday, whilst all our boys have been back home from Europe for two, three, four days is a huge advantage.

We should win this game relatively comfortably but the beautiful game is full of suprises.

Uzbeks 4-0. Qatar are just disastrous.

Uzbeks are destroying this match, but that's not to say they're good. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't beat them on tonight's showing.

What is more likely is that Bahrain will beat them on Wednesday, and we'll have to wait til June before we're officially qualified.

If we beat Uzbekistan and Bahrain draw with Qatar we will have officially qualified for the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP!
History in the making once again on Wednesday night. I know it wont be the same as the night against Uruguay but nothing ever will unless we will the world cup.

We ought to beat Uzbekistan at home, but by no means will this be easy as they've woken up from their slumber with this win. Though even if the Uzbeks lose, they'll still be well placed to get 3rd- certainly a better side than Bahrain or Qatar have shown, making their recent poor form inexplicable.

We will be as good as through to the World Cup if we win, and Japan look to be too. But make no mistake, this is by far the easier of the two groups, and Verbeek still leaves a lot of questions.

Our approach has worked in Asia because of the general mediocrity of opposition. Against European, South American or African sides with better finishing than any Asian side can come up with, we may not be so lucky.

Gotta remember that Uzbekistan, on their day, can beat anyone
they were best team through first stage of qualifying, so they are by no means easy beats
but still, should get the win to ensure qualification
2-0

yeah, they wont be able to make 2nd in the group, but i think they got the players to get 3rd and then beat Saudis or Iran, cant see them overtaking any of the Koreas
can't see New Zealand beating one of the asian teams though
