442 diamond might not be such a bad idea. Be a bit more solid defensively. Utilise the LB and RB for forward runs more. We are overloaded in CMs but have no depth on the wings. Wingers are doing f**k all anyway.

- Once again we dominated the first 20 minutes but can't make anything of it which comes back to bite us later on.
- Once again we get caught on the counter to concede 2 cheap goals.
- Once again the refs were lost all game.
- DWH needs to improve.
- Faz is the best LB in Australia right now.
- Wilson was looking better imo.
- Smith is not a winger.
- Kuol is getting better.
- We still can't confidently execute a cross into the box.

What else have I missed?

Faz & Smith showed some good potential down the left, would definitely give that combo another game or two. Team's just lacking some quality in those key passes, finishing moments. However, I think if we still have 0 points after six games it's bad news for the coach, no matter how we're playing

2nd goal Paull leaves the goal scorer to cover near post but wasn’t necessary as Faz had the ball player so Paull is lost
But Kaltak had come to mark the goal scorer as Paull goes so that is what is supposed to happen but then for no reason Kaltak pulls away and takes up space in the middle of the 6yr box leaving the goal scorer wide open. Horrendous defending.

Koul was used much better today and played to his strengths.

DWH is lost and his spot is there for the taking but we don’t have any strikers in the academy. Duarte has done absolutely nothing in the Academy but looked brighter than DWH in Bali.

Faz is playing really well. The effort he gave was inspirational today. Wilson should of at least forced a save from Faz cross. It was perfect.

Today was one of the games where every thing goes against you because your on a losing streak

I don't think we played Okonball ie keep possession but not do much with it.There was a lot of effort and hard work put into the game today and if we had taken those early chances we would all be happy now.Kuol did miss an absolute sitter early but then took his goal well following Tulio's great pass.

Tulio,Farrell,Nizzy,Balard and Roux ran themselves ragged and can themselves unlucky to be on the losing side.Smith was tentative early-preferring to lay the ball off rather than take on his direct opponent but came more into the game and had one blazing shot well saved.

Theoharous had a mixed game-has skills but lacks a good "football brain".He made a great run leading up to the non penalty decision but should have passed to an unmarked Smith .He took on the defender in the box and I think he realised that he had made the wrong decision by ignoring Smith and then looked for a penalty. The defender did leave his foot out and in pre VAR days the decision would have stood.

Paull did by my count four useless long ball passes which went nowhere near their intended target.Other aspects of his game were good-tackling and covering though he may have been slow to react for Waddingham's goal though from where I was sitting it was difficult to say.

The forum's favourite punching bag ,Wilson, also was tentative when he came on but became involved and I think he was the one who narrowly missed with a header from Farrell's great cross.

The Roar are certainly better under Ross Aloisi's direction.Waddingham could turn out to be a top striker-he's big, fast and physical.

fmd, Barreiro been getting coached by Shaun Evans in the off-season or something?

One thing I noticed is how slow a lot of our attack was, especially in the late stages in the game. By that I mean, the play around the PA. It was almost like our passes were all too hard, or just not put quite right, because every pass received in the PA seemed to need 2-3 touches to control. There was no one-touching it - not sure if that was a lack of confidence, but it meant no matter how much we moved it around, they were about to get back in front and even when we had players receive it in good positions, not much happened. Even if somebody receives it open, by the time they've taken the 2 touches, scratched their balls a bit, and consulted the horoscope, Roar were lined up back in front.

Given Roar parked the bus, they were able to get some good counters going, when, if they're parking the bus then they shouldn't be able to get the ball past midfield.

Farrell released the ball way too late when he got smashed (and yeah...it wasn't so much that Steele's was wrong...but we see much harder tackles, with studs halfway up the leg, usually only see a yellow. His was very high but with little force). Honestly, I thought Burke-Gilroy's tackle was worse - scissors tackles from behind aren't red cards anymore, I guess.

Disappointing to see Tulio take a dive, pretending to be smacked in the face. It's not something we've had much of in our team and I really hate to see it.

These kinds of games can be devastating for a team already low on morale, when you feel like you just can't get a break. Even 3 ball out of play decisions clearly and incorrectly against us. Just that sort of night, but it all stings.

Thank god we have a break.

Can someone explain the rules on Steele red card

The contract is no doubt high and red on it’s own but how does the foul by Bergour who clips Steele left leg twice not effect Steele balance and there challenge.

Should that not negated Steele high foot

Yeah, the ref doesn’t look at how heavy and dangerous the challenge is, just how high the boot is
That's not what the LOTG require.

Ultimately, it just comes down to if the ref considered the act to be serious foul play (engandering the safety of an opponent). Looking at things like the force used, the level of danger by studs, how badly it missed the ball etc. The rules aren't prescriptive as such - they rarely explicitly state 'if this then that'.

But you're right - if the studs have come high but then you can realise that the player got a knock from an opponent which put him off balance then that can absolutely be a mitigating factor.

Can't help but feel like it would have been if it was Roar.

it's more frustrating when this tackle with little force is a red, but we've seen studs halfway up the leg from a flying, hard slide tackle given a yellow more often than not.

This is the biggest issue you have highlighted - the speed of attack. Last season we would break so quickly and just roll off each other in attack. Now it is much slower.

The transition moments of play are killing us; BPO to BP is too slow and we don’t defend well enough in BP to BPO.

BP is passable and this is why people think we look good. However without a fast and effective BPO to BP we are making it easy for a team to set up an effective defence.

Conversely we are fine in BPO but getting caught out in BP to BPO.

Transition is the hardest to coach and the hardest to have a plan and structure. Monty excelled best in the transition phases for his team. Jackson is so struggling in these areas.

We have fast and mobile players that should excel in the transition moments but it appears the structure and tactics we have are holding them back.

Anyone who thinks we are looking good are way off the mark and clouded by our BP moments.

Fact is, is that we have had zero improvement against some of the weakest teams in the comp from round one to round four, and this is a major concern.

Jackson crying foul from game play and referee for all four games now is also not warranted. You get unlucky one game, maybe two and rarely three, but four losses is a pattern of failure. Last week it was the player’s fault, this week the ref. Next week he will blame FFC Mariner for having multiple forum handles.

A bad tradesman always blames his tools.
