ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Damn... I mean I'm sure he's getting paid really well, but between arrivingon Thursday, actually getting him on the pitch on Saturday and doing the clinic on Monday they're not wasting any time are they? :)
Good on them.

Signing LG is a fantastic move by the club.
We need a #10 and he can play there, and it must be just as much as a buzz for the players as it has been for the fans knowing he is coming to play for CCM.
As stated, he will provide a tremendous inspiration and mentor to all the young players, and a motivator for the more senior ones.
Apart from avoiding the spoon, our season is over so to sign him now provides for an ongoing interest for the casual fan.
He will not derail our season (like Romario did for Adelaide in 06/07) if he isnt up to it; but will provide some history for CCM if he is and we get some results.
Great marketing move by the club to raise profile, sell merchandise, coaching clinics, tickets, re-ignite interest.
To me it also solidifies the intent of MC in the club strategy and commitment to the coast - until recently I had been a critic.
Well done all at CCM!

So, thinking creatively - Garcia is clearly very heavily linked to New Balance. Look at his SM stuff, there are NB logos all over the shop.

I don't know whether we have a deal with Kappa for next year, but New Balance is building its football profile and trying to get their boots and gear out in the marketplace in a big way - they're the parent company of Warrior Sports and have opted to put NB branding on things rather than Warrior (which is more associated with ice hockey and lacrosse I think).

NB don't have a huge presence in Oz other than sponsoring a few key players like Tim Cahill and now Garcia; putting us in their kit for next season might be an attractive option. CCM should make a pitch for it, and if someone walks into a massive wedge of cash, maybe try to get Cahill and Garcia into it as well.

Cahill might bring us Sanitarium on the front of the shirt as well.

I'm not sure it's early enough for that - most clubs have already shored up their 16/17 suppliers and would be well into the design phase by now.

And obviously if the club is changing they can't announce til end of season anyway.

I think LG will take up quite a bit of duscussion time tonite on Fox's 'Football Roundtable' @ 7.30pm on channel Foxsports4.

A 1 hr 'Panel Discussion' on all things Aust.Football with Adam Peacock, Andy Harper, Mark Bosnich, Mike Cockerill & Mark Rudan.

Bozza's comments since the LG signing was announced have been pretty negative, in that if he doesnt do well it's a case 'waste of money' 'too old etc'

OR IF HE DOES WELL, well thats a case of the HAL not progressing in standard.

So according to Mark Bosnich, Luis Garcia's 'damned if he does do well, and damned if he doesnt'.

I think Bosnich is just green with jealously that LG still looks the goods at the very same age that Bozza had to hang up the gloves himself.

I used to like Bozza but im going off him a little. He is still more truthful than the other pundits, but thats not hard.

Only Simon Hill and Cockerill deserve our respect.

NB has been in the running area of sport for a while. I'm sure they used to have a deal with Athletes Foot because they always recommend me their shoes. Have had a couple and they are a good shoe.
I am a big fan of the NB Liverpool kit. Would be awesome to get them as everyone hates Kappa as far as I know. I like your thinking. Let's hope the Mariners agree with you and these companies are keen to jump on board.

September 2012 2yr deal with Kapp for 12/13 and 13/14 seasons.
Can't find anything on a renewal with the current deal hush hush as was much discussion at end of last year. Someone has signed a renewal they don't want people to know about. If it was another two years it would cover 14/15 and 15/16.

Here's hoping for a change

Yeah, I know NB are in running, just like Nike were and then made their way into football in the early 90s (and especially at USA 94).

The thing that's notable about NB is that they initially had their Warrior brand as their football brand, and then opted to take their prime brand into the market.

heh, that would be the usual story. I do get the impression Garcia is in this for the right reasons though (from our perspective)

“Let me check on the weekend how I feel. But I come here to try do my best but the coach is the one who is going to decide how many minutes on the pitch I need.”
However, the Spanish great added a cautious note on his influence on a side that sits in 10th spot and 11 points off sixth spot.
“I don’t think I can lift them up. I think I can help them to do something good in the team. All together I think we can do something well.
“It’s a very competitive league and I’ll try to adapt as well as I can.”
