Big Al, though I've forked out for multiple gold memberships since day dot mate, I sincerely couldn't give a shit if a thousand of your mates have better seats than me. I'd sit in the worst seats in the house every game if it meant big crowds would always be there to support our club. I don't get other people to go to games for my benefit mate, it's usually an absolute pain in the ass for me to organise that costs me time and money. I do it to help the club, plain and simple.
I seem to have different priorities than some, thats fine, people are entitled to their own views and desires. For mine, Im not really concerned by my member benefits, except that I take the club at it's word that getting more people to games is pretty bloody important - clearly so when you routinely struggle to pay your players. And in turn I expect their actions to be in accordance with this.
I think it's also important to note that plenty of people who are not members are also passionate Mariners fans. It's indicative, but not mutually exclusive. Some just have different obstacles in being members. I assume your among them Big Al. But don't lecture me on who I should and shouldn't want to sit with. I sit with a huge group of member friends and family all year - who are always inevitably spilt up when finals ticketing comes. For so many of us, the logistics are just too hard. We don't like it. But we accept it. You presume way too much mate. Like your who do we sing for rubbish.
As to just get GA tickets then, yep, that possibility had actually occurred to me (though the club makes considerably less money out of us) but as already stated, things are not always that black and white, and if you must know, my elderly father, whose had both hips replaced, likes to sit where he can get a great view. Member since inception. Insisted on being in the active support during the GF so he could help stand up against the RBB hordes, and he stood up and sang the whole time. I'm not going to deny him sitting where he wants just because I'm always trying to help the club get some more bloody gate money. But if I can make the two meet, sure, I always try to. And in this instance, with a stadium that will be doing well to be a third full, these kind of restrictions makes no sense to me. Even the last guy to buy a ticket next wednesday will still be sitting in a pretty decent seat. So I'm genuinely confused by the opposition. What vital membership rights and privileges are we preserving?
Hayson, boy you should have seen this place five years ago. The "whinging" I'm reading much more closely resembles the kind of "vital feedback" clubs across the HAL are supposedly going out of their way to start seeking to me - and it should be especially valid when coming from some of the clubs more passionate and devoted members who have the clubs best interests at heart.
I get that it's more enjoyable to talk team and the excitement of the upcoming game though. I agree. But to be fair, this stuff is important too, and right now it's pertinent. This isn't doom saying. Points are being made with reasonings behind them. And I haven't read a single unenthusiastic post about the game.
Current history proves this place is not full of negativity or negative people, so when people who are usually positive have an issue, I personally sit up and take notice. I really respect the views of all the established posters on here, and challenge and even quite often change my own point of view based on them. But it's a discussion forum, and to my mind, shutting down discussions with your a whinger unless you think whatever, is arguably the least worthwhile contribution anyone can offer.
For me it's like when people not in the bay come on here, complaining about them not being good or loud enough. That pisses me off no end too.
