ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

WELL DONE BOYS! :DDD
I had my doubts at the beginning but actually thought we looked quite decent in the second half, considering the circumstances :)... One more thing to celebrate this week :))))

Best 48 hours in Mariners history! I hope the boys go out and get on it to a ridiculous level tonight, finishing up at some karaoke bar at 5am- they well and truly deserve it.

I wore my purple Shaquille O'Neal Lakers singlet for this one...

That's a f**kin lame way to celebrate....but whatever floats you boat. I guess anything that stops you stealing cars in good therapy (for a scouse).

your thoughts on asian superiority dibo?
we're pretty f**king good right now, but the balance of chances went to them and we set up with a very interesting (and defensive) 3-3-3-1 late on to cling to the result there. it was deserved, but we certainly didn't dominate.

not at all. i'm thrilled - the fact that suwon *are* a decent team (currently sitting 2nd in the K-League) makes the achievement all the more impressive.

we were well set up tactically, and a bevy of individual skill errors (bernie, I'm looking at you, maybe you should have just drunk right through son) were outweighed by a disciplined and organised performance that didn't give them much of a look in.

i think it said a lot about their heart and even more about arnie that we got that win.

The Gutsiest Win

This was a gutsy win; the gutsiest. No team should ever have to celebrate their Championship by fronting up two days later at a soulless stadium in South Korea. But led by captain for the day, birthday boy Daniel McBreen, they rode out the Suwon assault and took the three points.
From the first few seconds when McBreen was cynically scythed down to the last few seconds when he felt the imprint of Suwon studs on his foot McBreen set the tone for bravery and character and sheer determination to win.
In wet slippery conditions Suwon dominated possession and territory in the first half with the besieged Mariners digging deep to hold them at bay. They struggled, often, to get out of their own half but the team work, the desire to help each, the composure of the players meant they occasionally buckled but never broke. The whole team played measured football, the ball on the ground, no panic, calmly picking out team mates and supporting each other. The powerful Anderson and the calm assassin Sainsbury intelligently presented the formidable barrier on which Suwon foundered. A feeble header at the far post and a left foot volley cleanly taken left Mat Ryan largely untroubled.
Constantly playing the team out of trouble with precise passing Ollie Bozanic backed up wonderfully from the Grand Final and the feisty Nick Fitzgerald gave a more than passing imitation of Michael McGlinchey with his confident skills and willingness to beat people. 0-0 at half-time.
Suwon were quickly out of the blocks in the second half but the Mariners restricted them to half chances and shots from distance. Gradually the Mariners were building forward momentum, Rose and Bojic beginning to provide threat going forward. In a classic Mariners’ counter attack Rose was suddenly in acres of space on the left, his cross spilled by the keeper just far enough away from the onrushing McBreen who impolitely rapped the keeper on the knuckles.
McGlinchey came on for the tiring Fitzgerald and immediately had Suwon confused and back-pedalling. Bozanic, surrounded by defenders, somehow had the vision and skill to pick the wee maestro out on the left and he raced through to force the ball past the keeper with ten minutes to go. History was baout to be made!
Sterjovski replaced the hard working Duke, Zwaanswijk came on as Bozanic limped off. Suwon huffed and puffed but at the end it was the Mariners still going forward with that man McBreen firing a shot over the bar from distance.
This was an historic win, the first away in Asia, and sets up next week’s home game against Kashiwa Reysol; it will be another great night at Bluetongue!
Anderson, Sainsbury, Bozanic and Fitzgerald were my best on the night with Ollie getting MoM for that killer pass under pressure.
And thank you Daniel McBreen for not only celebrating your birthday with this win but also celebrating my birthday too!
