Yeah it was a bit of a strange choice but general concensus is that last time we played Adelaide we couldn't cope with their 5 man midfield, so Lawrie opted for a more defensive midfield (even though we can't score goals and Adelaide played 442). Also Pedj had trained well and Lawrie likes to make changes when we dont win.

In hindsight, Travis was great when he came on so overall it was a bad decision. Particuarly as WeeMac got shifted out wide where he isn't suited.

What in the hell did Matty do for 80 min of the game.

worked his arse off, set up Kwassie, worked his arse off some more, then left the pitch dead on his feet.

was by no means his worst performance so this comment is just stupid
He might have worked his arse off in the second half, but Tobin told the Fox guy that Lawrie ripped him a second one for his first half performance. So, sorry, your analysis is flawed,
As I've said before, there are some on this forum who'd bag Nik even if he was golden boot three years running. It is also becoming  obvious that those same people are incapable of seeing Mat Simon's faults.

Matty has been flat for a few weeks. Whether he is carrying a knock or simply trying to hard, I dont know.

I think it's the latter. It's pretty visible as an outsider, he's genuinely trying to carry the side, and in the process is probably doing the opposite of helping.

Krusty - you a relative of Mrdja or something??  Fark me.... and +1 to what Morgan said about Matty, not his fault if he's getting triple teamed by Rudan and co. is it??

Working too hard??   What. The. F*ck??  _Are_ you taking the piss??
No he's not taking the piss. Mat Simon is not God and sometimes he does f**k up. Last match 1st half was one such.
It's time some opened their eyes and tried to develop some fairmindedness in their commentary. This constant slagging of one and sucking up the arse of another is becoming quite boring.

haha good one, listen to the commentators always a good idea...

The moment your refering to I'm guessing was the exchange they showed on replay which had no audio and it's not an uncommon occurance for all the players and I'd bet almost all the players coped something from Lawrie at some point within the 90 minutes, suggesting he was abusing Matt Simon for his performance rather than commenting on a certain passage of play is just ignorant.
Perhaps you SHOULD listen to the commentators, they were actually reporting what was told them by the assistant coach!

you guys are are bunch of dickheads nik was on for 5 min how can you rate his game. What in the hell did Matty do for 80 min of the game. Get your head out of you arses. The last 5 min of the game was the best part. Overall a shit game we need to improve if we are going to win.

Why are you so far up Nik's asshole???
Because we're sick to bloody death of the one-eyed slagging of the guy.
Give Fowler 5 minutes at the back end of a game and even he might struggle to impact. After all, it took him about an hour to get his first goal against GCU, even though he worked his butt off until then.
And before you flame me, no I'm not suggesting that Fowler & Mrdja are equal, or even should be in the same team. I will also say that if I had to choose between Nik & Matty, I'd select Matty every time.

We all spoke about the pressure Matty would be under as the only scoring forward in the club just a few weeks back.

This will be a learning curve for Matty and one that many forwards here do not get to learn. I can not think of another Australian forward which has been asked to carry a club at the front. Nearly all other clubs have a youngster with loads of enthiusiaim, or a veteran thats been there and done that up front. In Mrjda, Bigmac and Kwassie, we have 3 guys that will not score regularly and have never really been a brilliant goal scoring forward and only Mrjda has shown the potential to be one.

Of the three Mrjda would have to be the best at holding the ball, passing and shooting. I think Lawrie needs to visit the one striker option that FFC forwarded last week. Kwassie on the right, Travis and Weemac in the middle and Hutch on the left. Mrjda and Simon to play the lone striker.

Yep I think Jaza is right. Matty has usually had Sasho alongside him to help out and organise him. He's missing someone to share the goal scoring duty and it's not suiting him.

That's a pretty valid comment. I think we tend to forget that he's still young and comparatively inexperienced. That could explain why we (in general) stopped scoring after Sasho fell out of favour, and with only a couple of exceptions, haven't started again.

Looking at that game we were well organised in the backs.  Defensively Ok with the middies but poor penetration from middies and we had nothing up front.
Kwas went from Hero to Zero and Simon needs a proper strike partner NOW. Someone to hold the ball up and actually support him. I don't know the answer coz D-Mac/Disco and Kwas have all been equally poor at times.
I'd probably look at D-Mac presuming he had a decent game in youth.
I also think we are better when Hutch plays on the flank.
I think the best mid combo is:

Travis                            Crowell            WeeMac                  Hutch or Pedj

its a good 5 to be able to rotate dependent on form.....on current form Hutch is dropped for next game.
