2 offsides, both bought about by his horrid positioning.... f*cked up a simple reception of an even simpler pass, pissweak shot straight at the keeper.

I just don't see why he continues to get a run tbh - I'd rather see someone from the youth given a go.  He's clearly not the future of the team in any way, shape, or form.

You have to be kidding right?

What did Matt do in that 80 then?
Who in Youth who you have seen or heard of could replace Mrdja?

Exactly what Morgan said - worked his arse off, on and off the ball, set up Kwasnik.... *shrugs*  Mrdja just did what he always does - nothing.

No idea re: youth - I'm on the other side of the world, I get the Youth Results (and that's it, no match reports or owt) via Twitter and this forum - I'm not gonna claim to know what's going on with that side of things.  I'm merely suggesting that _surely_ we're not going to re-sign Mrdja, so why not give someone (a striker obviously) from the Youth a go??  10 minutes at the end of a game, get them used to A-League conditions etc.  Couldn't hurt??

Watch the game again if you can. Watch how many SIMPLE passes & touches Matty squandered, watch how many times Adelaide defenders got time on the ball with Matt slow to react and close down. good passing plays leading up to Matt which were also fkd up.
Also take note of the incorrect offside calls on Mrdja that he got pinged for, and those he was allowed to play on with. His shot had alot of power and was done at the right time given the proximity of the defenders and the space he was allowed to run into, yet noone chasing in when Galekovic coughed it up - shit shot. pretty hard from that distance and he did well.

you guys are are bunch of dickheads nik was on for 5 min how can you rate his game. What in the hell did Matty do for 80 min of the game. Get your head out of you arses. The last 5 min of the game was the best part. Overall a shit game we need to improve if we are going to win.

At least Matty put in a good hack or two :D

Cant understand why wee mac was playing wide on the right more effective going through the middle supporting the forwards.

According to my Collins dictionary (which has served me well since my first week of uni all the way back in 1988) the definition for insipid is

1 - lacking spirit or interest; boring
  2 - lacking taste; unpalatable

I now add

3 - the performance of the Central Coast Mariners over the past 2 weeks.

Have to say I agree with Krusty and Sean on this one.
I think Sean's description of the game is exactly what I saw.

I also was not happy with Matty and was not surprised and thought he deserved Lawrie's serve.
He was the one sloppy with his offside positioning, touch was poor several times and gave away possession, and also - and most importantly for mine - was not bending or following his runs through for very far. This makes the workable space too small, too easy to track and defend. I still think he tried hard and had some decent moments - but when I watched Rudan outpace him it was a bit depressing.

On a positive note, Crowell (poor decisions Williams!) continues to impress, and Travis was quality. Pedj was also solid though he made some errors, more quality work than failures and lends weight to the 4231 I think...

On the negative - while he had a solid game, I still think Hutch wide left can be more positive.

We need a striker to step the hell up or sign someone, or tight low scoring games and draws will be the rest of our season.

MOM... Travis fantastic second half... but was only 45... Crowell was great till sent, Wilko Boogs Doig all excellent... But I'm giving it to Heff this week.

Defended solidly and made some great runs, there's been talk about it, but he looks to be finally coming back to his full form again for me.

If we can just find an alchemist to turn Mrdjas boots from lead to gold, we;ll give it a real shake. Otherwise... mid table tight scraps a plenty, with winning results too dependant on other teams form and errors for my liking.

What a load of shit. Can't even be bothered responding in depth to that.

Tedious game.

Allow me to say that any improvements CCM have made to defence and midfield have been partially negated by the lack of a quality strike partner for Simon.

Mrdja is either the new Zdrilic, or the new Ross Aloisi and Carl Veart, since Kosmina had an unhealthy attachment to those two players and kept playing them in V2 despite being crap.

Wow. Crowd of 5400 apparently. Being there, I would of said 3000 at the ABSOLUTE max.

We rocked up early to watch the W-League (Thank you to Bear who helped develop love for Jenna..hawt!). As soon as the game was over,a bunch of guys rock up in the Green Canberra shirts...chanting. So, the'll rock up to support 2 teams that are not their own, and wont support the W-Leage team for their city? f**kers.

Ref was a bit of a moron, Simon lacked a bit of his usual energy. I think Kwassie had a good game. He seems to be getting a bit more confidence which I think will come out more in a few games. Danny made some great saves too.

Canberra Stadium...they sell cans...and at one bar ran out of beer on tape before full time and were only serving VB Gold. Interesting.

Theres 12 hours of my life I wont get back.

That was 2 points dropped for Adelaide - tv is a deceptive medium, they were by far the better side.

Yes, Kwassie should have won it for us and he should have been subbed then. Everyone who has watched him for 4.5 years knows that if it isnt his night, that wont change.

Giving Mrdja 10 minutes to get into a game is just absurd. Regardless of our views on him, you cannot expect a player to pick up the tempo of the game in so short a time.

Cant begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to Melb next week after EAS and more of the same shit tonight.

Possibly 1,000 or so Coasties throughout the crowd. Much better effort than I thought we would get. Top marks to those who went

Our coaching brains seem completely incapable of coping with 5 men in midfield and to be out thought by Vidmar really is taking the piss.

Agree, 3,000 at the very most. Capital punishment = fail. Went and stood with the Adelaide at HT coz we were being mean to them. They will hate away games if they ever get a gig, cant take banter. Typical public servants.

Interestingly, that brings our 'home games' average crowd down to 7703. take out the ill-considered canberra trips, the average is actually 8897. They drag the average down by 1194...

After having wanted to kick the cat and put a boot through the TV I have calmed down a little. Gave far too much respect to Adelaide, shades of the ACL campaign. Lawrie's had a good season but this wasn't an occasion to be proud of, way too negative and still doesn't understand that a subs bench is part of the team and can be used to improve performance. Whether you like Mrdja or hate him there is no way that you will get his confidence up by saying "well done in the Res/Youth you can now sit on the bench as a reward" He would not have got on at all if Rudan hadn't left his studs on Kwasnik's chest. Last week we had the good Kwasnik this week the man from another planet; Mrdja did more in five minutes than Kwas`all game, should have been on with 30 to go. Vukovic could well be the best keeper in Australia but for some guy called Galekovic. Back four solid, after Boogs steadied having been owned by Dodd early on. Heffernan has been playing well for weeks now and looks close to being back to his best, great engine, a real handful for Adelaide. Crowell hard done by for first yellow by ref who thinks tackling is illegal but plain dumb to get the second. McGlinchey was in command until the injury, Travis did well when came on. Hutchinson's second poor game in a row; Bojic outstanding but wished he had more composure in the first minute - could have held the ball up and slipped it to Matt for a tap in- we would have been making far more positive comments.
Please Lawrie, please, please sign Robbie Fowler :)

Oh, and cause I can:

The Adelaide team went over to their supporters, gave handshakes, man hugs and signed things for the kids. Thanks again to the Mariners for showing us that respect. It takes 5 mins to come out of the way. We hung around and applauded you.

Surely we shouldn't be throwing in the Canberra games to get our average home game crowds.
Bad enough losing two games as it is.

Still had a bit of fun despite the game. Had a small group of bout 20-30 behind goals, not best performance but still made a fair bit of noise.
