Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Jonas Salley to sign for Gold Coast United if he stays in Australia
By Marco Monteverde
February 24, 2009 Adelaide United midfield Gyawe Jonas Salley will play in a Gold Coast United shirt next season - should he choose to stay in Australia.

Salley, unwanted by Adelaide beyond this season despite his man-of-the-match performance in the Reds' 1-0 preliminary final win over Queensland, has attracted interest from three A-League clubs and teams in Korea and China.

But Gold Coast will win the battle for his signature provided the Ivory Coast-born defensive midfielder, 26, does not accept what will be a more lucrative offshore offer.

"If he doesn't go to Asia, he will come to us," Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg said on Monday.

Salley, having become a naturalised Australian this season, will be eligible to play for a Coast team that has already filled its quota of five visa players.

An admirer of Salley's work ethic, Bleiberg's belief in the former New Zealand Knights star was reinforced by his weekend effort against the Roar at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Salley hounded and harassed the Roar midfield for the 80 minutes he was on the park, with his tireless performance nullifying the engine-room punch usually provided by Queensland workhorses Massimo Murdocca and Matt McKay.

Bleiberg telephoned Salley's agent, Lou Sticca, at half-time to seal the deal.

"I'm not pressuring him about making the decision between us and Asia. We can wait until June for his answer," Bleiberg said.

But the Coast will not have to wait that long, with Salley expected to announce his plans soon after his Adelaide side plays Melbourne Victory in the A-League grand final at Telstra Dome on Saturday night.
