A FURIOUS Sasa Ognenovski is at loggerheads with Adelaide United officials on the eve of the Reds' title-defining clash against Sydney FC at Adelaide Oval tomorrow night.

Adelaide's premiership and 2010 AFC Champions League aspirations could be on the line if a rift developing with Herculean stopper Ognenovski is not healed.

Adelaide officials blocked Ognenovski's transfer move to K-League giant Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma by placing a $570,000 transfer fee on his head.

Ognenovski's dilemma was mirrored in May when Bruce Djite verbally attacked United officials before moving to Turkey.

Djite said Adelaide was holding clubs "to ransom" by putting a "ridiculous" price on his head just hours before United agreed to release the triker to Genclerbirligi for $850,000.

Djite's deal almost collapsed when United demanded $1.5 million.

Ognenovski said he could not understand why the club was standing between him and financial security.

As a consequence, Ognenovski's fledgling international career is also hanging by a thread.

Ognenovski, who has Macedonian heritage, was recently voted by the Macedonian media as that nation's No. 2 star player behind Lazio's Goran Pandev.

The European nation will hand him an international World Cup call-up if he moves to Asia, he said.

Ognenovski, 29, said he'll never get another chance with Seongnam or Macedonia if Adelaide refuses to lower its fee.

Seongnam offered United $285,000 on Tuesday for Ognenovski, who is still in contract until 2010.

Adelaide officials rejected the bid on Wednesday.

Seongnam wants to sign Ognenovski for a two-year million dollar deal believed to be six times his package at United.

He would live in a four-bedroom apartment in Seongnam city with the club offering Ognenovski all-expenses-paid return trips to Australia for his family.

"To say I'm unhappy is an understatement," Ognenovski said.

"I'm not a moron.

"I'm not 21 years old with another five or six contracts left in me.

"I've only got a few years left in my career and now I've got the chance to set my family up, the club is stopping it.

"I think they need to understand that I'm 29 years old. I'm a carpenter by trade and it looks like that's what I'll be going back to in a hurry."

Seongnam marketing director Chang yesterday confirmed Ognenovski was the club's prime target.

"Sasa Ognenovski's transfer is all in the process at the moment," Chang said.

"We're waiting and if anything should happen we'll let you know

He's my favourite player outside the Mariners roster and to see him leave the A League would be sad. He makes a good point regarding his financial situation and hopefully the reds will see sense and let him go. With Fyfe comng in the have a replacement anyway (although not as good) and Ang wants to stay as well... problem solved.

Australias richest man snatched the 19-year-old flier from the clutches of the Roar after contract negotiations between Minniecon and his current boss Frank Farina hit a brick wall.

The ebullient Palmer couldnt hide his glee, adding Minniecon to a list of signings that includes Jess Vanstrattan, Adam Griffiths, Michael Thwaite, Shane Smeltz and Joel Porter, with Socceroos heavy-hitter Jason Culina the likely jewel in the crown.

The Roar have taken a few good Gold Coast kids like Mitch Nichols and Tommy Oar, so were are now reversing the trend, said mining mogul Palmer.

He's one of Australia's best young talents, and he'll be our marquee Under-21 player next year. I've no doubt the Roar will be upset to lose him because Frank Farina obviously rates him very highly.

Quizzed on why Minniecon had chosen United ahead of a pack of interested A-League parties, Palmer chortled: Probably because he wants to be on the winning team next season. It's a big loss for the Roar and a big gain for us.

Minniecon, who burst onto the scene last season, has been one of the reasons for the Roar's recent rise up the A-League ladder but was on the bench against Melbourne Victory at Telstra Dome on Friday night.

It's understood he will earn $130,000 a season at United, whose assistant coach Paul Okon, the former Socceroos skipper, helped broker the deal.

Okon met Minniecon, who has made 20 appearances for the Roar, before Christmas to discuss the move down the M1 to the Glitter Strip.

He explained: Tahj is the one Roar player I really wanted to bring to United and I'm glad it's been finalised.

He has lots of pace and can cut through teams and cause damage at will. He's not somebody you will have to nurture too much because he already has some sound A-League experience and has shown he can thrive at this level.

He'll continue to grow and improve and quite obviously isn't the finished article yet. He brings a lot of attributes with him and hopefully well be able to take him to a new level as a player.

United's head coach Miron Bleiberg said: We are more than happy to have Tahj.

He's a match-winner and I plan to give him a free role across the front line. I don't see him as somebody who just plays on the wing (as he does at the Roar).

With the Roar set to visit Skilled Park in the first round of the 2009-2010 season, a mischievous Palmer scoffed at talk of an enduring rivalry between the clubs.

I don't see it as being much of a rivalry between us. I think the first game will take care of the Roar, he teased.

Palmer remains convinced Culina will also soon be added to the roster - with an announcement possibly as early as next week.

We aren't offering as much as the other teams involved (Culina's current club PSV Eindhoven or Dinamo Zagreb) but we think our overall incentive package will be more appealing to him than what they are putting on the table, he insisted.

Everybody thinks the Gold Coast is a great place to live and we think Jason won't be any different.

I read today in Slater's article in News Ltd that McFlynn is leaving at the end of the season.

Is that right? I don't remember that being reported.

Announcements mid-season that Jacob Timpano, Robbie Middleby, Iain Fyfe, Brendan Santalab and Terry McFlynn were leaving the club at season's end

Is there any chance of getting Alamao from Adelaide for ACL. Not to sure of his contract details but him at RB along with Heff would leave us with some dynamic defenders. He doesn't seem to get much game time with the Reds and I think he is quality.

Well I watched over the hols an old recording from "Football Stars of Tomorrow" from back early NSW PL season when he was featured as having just broken through into Sutherland Sharks first team - comment was made that Central Coast Mariners were interested - don't know if that was true.
