ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Who'd want an injury-prone striker, especially a club with one injury-prone and overpaid striker on the books already.
I would be upset that we will have stuck with Mrdja for 4 seasons, with little return due to his injuries.....and then he leaves for greener pastures.

Osman would be a better choice at DCM, but then most here would prefer to see how he goes at RB in place of Porter.

Look at Osman's role in defence for the second Perth goal and I don't think you would say that.

Ago is off contract at seasons end, so only 1 injury prone striker

Give Porter his chance at right mid IMO

I think this may be coming from left field, but i totally agree with that defence but we need heff somewhere, how about we drop hutcho and give heff a go at left mid, use his pace and stamina to work his ringer off (something hutch has forgotten to do), like i said very left field but how does this look

and i reckon the link play would be really good between pedj and heff, they both like going forward and probably our quickiest players, with adrian

yeah good point, so true, i reckon if u went through archie thompsons stats he has probably scored the majority of his goals against us, because we are slowest backihe league n archi the quickiest striker in the league

why do we play a high flat back 4 (offside trap style) with the slowest defenders in the league??

A very astute question indeed ... I presume so we can close down the midfield, but it is high risk definitely

exactly right kev

we didn't play a high line against perth and they murdered us through the midfield

loss/loss situation

We play a high line on the basis that our attacking formation plus the high work rate of our midfield and strikers will stop the opposition from exploiting it.

To expose a high line, you need to play a perfectly timed through ball/long ball for a striker who is making an arced run to stay onside.

When we don't have the ball, we usually pressure the opposition players so they can't time their pass and expose us. When teams like Melbourne and Jets (of last season) are on their game and move the ball quickly with fast passing movements, they get away from our initial pressure zone and inevitably find space and freedom to play dangerous passes.

The high line works if you work hard enough in front of it, and it also benefits the attack by pinning the opposition deeper.
