Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A-League Transfers and Rumours

Durante and McKain are very good buys but I hardly think Mulligan and Blochead will strike fear into attackers this season. I'd take Sonic and Osman over those two any day. I'm not convinced Herbet knows how to coach defenders. Will be interesting.

For mine, Adelaide have the best backline. Costanzo, Valkanis, Ognenovski and Cassio will be hard to score against. I reckon Costanzo and Moore are the best defenders in the league.

From NBN site
The Newcastle Jets will welcome former Denmark Under-21 international Jesper Hakansson tomorrow (Tuesday) for a trial, with a view to keeping the attacking mid-fielder for the A-League season.

Hakansson, now 27, has played in Sweden and in The Netherlands while more recently was with Lyngby in the Danish Superliga.

yep you're right:

ADELAIDE United FC secured the final piece of their 2008/09 squad with the signing of midfielder/defender Paul Reid from English club Brighton & Hove Albion.
Reid comes to Adelaide on a two year deal, which takes the Reds squad list to the maximum 23 players each Hyundai A-League club is permitted.

United Coach Aurelio Vidmar and Football Director Michael Petrillo met with Reid in London during their trip to Europe earlier this year for preliminary talks, where the 29 year old indicated he was keen to join the Reds.

Vidmar believes Reids acquisition is a coup for the club and will add further depth to the squad.

Were extremely pleased to have secured Paul for this season," said Viddie. "He was one of the standouts in the NSL during his time with the Wollongong Wolves.

"With his experience in England, we believe he will be a really significant contributor to our group.

Im certain he will fit into the team really well, and he has signalled that he is eager to join the club and do everything he can to help the club be successful this season.

Sydney born Reid began his football career with the Wollongong Wolves in the old NSL in 1998 and won 2 NSL Championships in the 4 seasons he was there, before moving to England to join Bradford City in 2002.

His tenure only lasted one season before he signed with Brighton & Hove Albion in 2003, where he became a regular and popular player amongst the Seagulls fans, playing in the Coca Cola Championship in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons.

Near the start of the 2006/07 season, Reid suffered a serious knee injury which saw him sidelined for a year, but he returned to first team action later in the season 2007/08 campaign.

Despite the start of the new season just over a fortnight away, Reid was taking part in Brightons pre-season training prior to returning to Australia and should join the Reds with a solid fitness base behind him.

Reid is expected to arrive in Adelaide on Sunday night and will wear the number 12 shirt.

The Newcastle Jets have today signed Danish striker Jesper Hkansson on a 2-year contract. Hkansson has been trialling with the club for the past week and fills one of the final spots in the Jets 2008/09 playing roster.

???

We saw his DVD, thought he was worth a trial. We get him over here for a trial and GVE thinks he is good enough and signs him.

I agree that smacks of bad business practice.
