Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Gold coast should be brought in next season.

The NQLD Team should be brought in the season after.

The HAL must continue to improve its standard of play. Bringing in two teams next season will...dilute the playing stocks and allow average players to have big a pay rise and 'hasbeens' to get another start.

After the 2010 world cup, bring in geelong/2nd Melbourne team and the western Sydney team. Creating good derbies. But they should not bring them in at the same time.

Then look at Gong FC and maybe a Tassy team/Canberra team, maybe a sunshine coast team/Darwin team. Who knows.

The HAL must get established, before the AFL moves into GC and WSYD. I know it will take them years to get good crowds and a fan base but the jnrs and 13-14s must be playing Football not switching to AFL in those areas.

According to the ABC, AFL's desire to go into W Syd is because the TV ratings out west are crap for their game. I didnt know but apparently, you need the WEst onside if Sydney ratings are to be any good.

Apparently, the Swans are seen as an E Subs Lower North Shore side (that sounds like Lowy FC too doesnt it).

Sadly for the Tards and their silly game, W Syd is NRL & Football heartland, the sooner we get a club playing out of Parra (with big games at ANZ) the better.

I too worry about the playing stocks if we go to 12 within 3 years. I think we can quite easily cope with 10 teams, but 12 will probably see a lot of money floating to imports rather than developing the grassroots. The key is for the clubs to create a local pathway into their first team and get good coaches into development positions so that we can maintain or improve the playing standard in the A-League in the next 5-10 years. A rush to expand could drain the local talent and turn the focus overseas.

One way to relieve that problem would be a repatriation exercise where the FFA works (not sure how, need to think about it a bit more) on bringing back guys like Jacob Burns and other overseas Aussies to play here.

Dont forget, there are well over 100 australians playing abroad. Most of a-league standard, many not on incredible money. Add with that players proving themselves in the youth league, and i dont fear for the standard of the league with increased teams

I realise this isn't the most important factor, but someone [a few pages back] mentioned that GC Galaxy were wanting 'yellow and blue' as their team colours. Anyone heard anything concrete on this?

What's wrong with green? Or barcodes? Theres no stripes yet.. just yellow is off limits

yellow and blue are gold coast colours

the blue may well be the dominant colour and more aqua as per the titans

-LEAGUE hopefuls Gold Coast Galaxy have targeted three players from this weekend's grand final in preparation for their admission to the competition next season.

Central Coast pair Andre Gumprecht and Andrew Clark, and Newcastle Jets midfielder Noel Spencer, are believed to be on the Galaxy's extensive shopping list, and while football director Miron Bleiberg refused to confirm his transfer targets, he added: "If we get the go-ahead, it will just be a matter of shuffling the paperwork. We've probably got 75 per cent of the [23-man] squad in place."

Both Gold Coast and North Queensland Thunder are hoping tomorrow's Football Federation Australia board meeting will ratify the expansion of the league to 10 teams for next season, although there are also indications the board is not entirely happy with the status of both bids and may want more time to finalise the process. However, FFA is still keen to bring both teams into the league for 2008-09, provided the necessary guarantees are in place.

Acknowledging concerns about the depth of ready-made talent in Australia, FFA is also believed to have offered both Gold Coast and North Queensland allowances to sign six visa players next season - two more than the current limit.

The Mariners, meanwhile, have only one injury concern for the grand final - talismanic midfielder Tom Pondeljak [hamstring] has yet to return to training, and remains a serious doubt. Either Gumprecht, who has largely been out of favour this season, or Greg Owens will replace Pondeljak if he fails to recover in time.

The good news for Central Coast is that striker John Aloisi will be ready, with the Socceroos star saying his break from training had helped take the strain off his injured knee.

"For me, I needed that week off to get my knee right, and it feels a lot better," he said.

Meanwhile, Sydney Football Stadium boss Jamie Barkley is confident the playing surface will be in "excellent condition" for Sunday's grand final despite a rugby league trial between the Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers - which will involve three grades - being played at the venue the night before.

Plus the GG Galaxy are trying to lure Noel Spencer up north. He has a year in his contract still to go but apparently the club would allow him to join them.

Quite a far distance to commute wouldn't it?
