ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A-League Expansion

I personally do not think a cup will be profitable or close. I cant see the mariners drawing more than max 5k against marconi in the cup. Until the a-league teams play each other, it will be a drain of funds the FFA doesn't have.

By the time we ave a cup i would guess there will be 12 a-leaqgue teams. It will be a while.

Preseason cup is good, but ultimately is for getting players match fit so the season starts in reasonable style.

Though, a trophy is a trophy :)

Though you have to draw a picture for a scummer

That would be a game that would be at Pluim Park rather than the stadium though

As others have said, i too agree that there should be a team in canberra, i doubt it would impact on our deal with the acadomy. I also believe there should a team in eaither hobart or northern teritory. if they are going to concider expanding the A-league they should think about going where there isnt already an a-league team in the state. But then again the FFa arent known for using their commen sense at times.

About the Northen Territory idea i was reading somewhere (cant remember or i would post the link) that the Townsville franchise (Nothen Thunder), if they get in which they are likely to with Gold Coast, will play some of their home games in the Northen Territory as well as try and get some of their players from there as well.

Imagine some of those young quick aboriginal kids running rings around defences down the wing ala Zullo, Heffo etc. Exciting prospect imo.

Also Northern Thunder have agreed to change their name to "North Queensland Thunder"

There's an article on the Sydney forum saying that both teams are most likely to be in next year.

Could you expand on that Sacko?
Be interested to hear your thoughts/info as to why you are so definite...
thx

If they are going to allow both clubs entry next year, I hope that there is the player depth for it. There is already debate over the quality of the league, and the last thing we need is to dilute the player pool. I'm all for expansion, I just don't want to see the quality of the games deteriorate. Look at the trouble clubs have filling injury temporary replacement roles.

I have read a few of your posts latley Jocwa and honestly out of everyone here, you have to take the cake for soem of the stupist comments.

Just heard Twat Harper interview the MD of the Northern thunder on ABC radio. FFA are putting pressure on the Thunder to change their name from "Northern" to something with a bit more of a definite location (like Nth Qld or Townsville). There's been no agreement yet... but it is likely, thank God. FFA's arguement is that if the Thunder ever play in Asia (or in any other international competition), then the world will need to be able to find them on a map. "Northern" is too obscure given that the FFA is seeking to make all A-League clubs into a world-wide brand someday.

Anyway, decision on A-League expansion is expected to be announced after next week's FFA Board meeting. I wonder if they'll announce it before the GF? It may take some of the focus off it, but then again, any publicity is good publicity.

PS... excuse the spelling mistakes (if any)...lol

AFL has just announced they will be putting a team on the Gold Coast in/by 2011 so it would be good to get the jump on them with this.

Calling someone stupid when you litter your post with errors (soem?? dominat??) does tend to hurt your case

:redcard:

I agree... It doesn't take much to look at your post and realise that you have a mistake in there... If you honestly don't realise, then maybe you need to put spell checker on!?!?!

spelling errors aside, my point still stands
Just curious, what point would that be?
1)That we have the best supporters?
2)Or that football isn't the dominant sport? I think Jocwa08 said atm, and while in a few weeks rugby might be, I think that he might be right at this moment in time...

my point was; that most of what Jocwa has said recently has been a load of shite.

ie/ Football (or as jocwa says, soccer) is a dominant sport- it is rapidly catching up but is still a good bit away from other more established sports

Also his point about the mariners having the best fans, what a load of shit! They at best would be probably 6th.
