37th F3 Derby - FIRE UP

Gotta say - considering the decimation of the team last week - in a strange sort of way I'm pleasantly surprised by the game today.
I thought for sure Nordstrand would run roughshod around our defence but they actually looked reasonable except for Rosie's lapse. Micky Neill seems to have worked on his defending and Ascroft actually did ok at fb.
Think it'd be interesting to see a back line like tonight but with Posco in place of Rosie.
It might just be the view from the stands but it felt like everyone was having an off night for targeting and like that was the prime diff tonight.

For mine, we should and could have won this one.

Sucks badly to lose a derby but that's the reality of this season I think. Hopefully we can get a result out of the final round.

I think it's more frustrating because we could - and should - have won. Early game were were the better team, and there was a period of about 25min where Jets did absolutely nothing. But it's still psychological - no matter how bad the opposing team players, we're limiting ourselves to playing just below them. Just can't lift that extra step to get above them. Certainly couldn't this game. But no shots on target? That really hurts.

But man, Buhagier is amazing. MOM for me. Amazing work rate and he's got the guts to have a go too. Once he gets a goal his final touch (cross or shot) will get good too.

Didn't Trent score a couple of weeks ago? ;-)

Eternal optimist in me looks to next week and I'm thinking there are positives. Three back in (although Monty out I think? 8th yellow tonight)

Izzo/Bray (who knows these days)
Ascroft Poscoliero McGing JRose
LRose Neill
Garcia
Ferreira O'Donovan Austin

Subs: Bray/Izzo, Bingham, Buhagiar, Uskok, McDonald

Not even sure I want to bench Bingham tbh, unless Garcia isn't fit? No idea (then again I have no idea normally)

I found some positives ... having said that we need two or three senior players to complement the kids.

In Uskok we have found IMO an excellent central defender and on todays display he would be one of the first players I choose... Thattrentboy will be something special he is finding his feet and hopefully gets lots more game time this year.. Liam Rose will be better with this season under his belt..

Some major thinking needed by the club now in what positions and what type of players to go for.

For mine I would be looking to add two ball playing mids more 6's then 10's in the type of player because when Roys back and with Bing, Trent, Fab and Austin the attack looks hhhhmmm capable of scoring... Sorry for Storm but a new right back and a new left back as well or move Post to a right Fullback with Ashcroft / McGing and Uskok.

I really like his attacking work and I think he plays some great balls but he's pretty lacking defensively.

He will be a good player but he is not ready to be starting each week and is part of the problem. Good potential but should be getting 20 mins at the end of a game.
He doesn't offer any penetration and he also doesn't defend very well.
However he does hold the ball very well and sometimes his passing is good.....today a couple of sublime balls but also a couple of shockers.

I thought the umina boy was real good to ,he he he

Uskok was a big imposing bastard that even had a run in with Williams
very impressive

the huge chunk of ice on louies leg make's me think he has to start the 2nd half.
if stella is not up to it . start young rose and move him back at half time

can't wait for the return of roy

We started ok and looked reasonable for the first 20 mins.

The defence looked quite good apart from Roses shocking attempt at a tackle.

Uksok and Harry looked good.

Budgie looked like a real prospect, once he gets confident and keeps his composure for the final ball....he is going to be a ball tearer.

Bingham needs to be quicker on his toes in the box.

Our movement off the ball continues to be poor.

Our follow up through the middle channel is non existent.

We deserve the spoon.

Newcastle were shit.
