If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hopefully Bray can start this week. Is it injuries that have kept him out so far? Really hope he does well if only because he was a Heart youth player an age ago >.>

This is probably going to be a banning offence (it's a Herald Scum article written by the King of Scum, Joel "My Mother Should have Swallowed" Griffiths, but anyway:

THE F3 derby. Has it lost its edge? If so, why?

It’s almost impossible to fathom that the Jets haven’t beaten the Mariners since 2012. The last win on enemy soil was back in 2008. It hurts me to say it.

It’s a wrong that needs to be corrected, and the Jets won’t get a better chance than Sunday. That said, there is no doubt that the oldest grudge match in the A-League has lost its edge.

Tuesday marked eight years since we beat the Mariners 1-0 to win the championship. One of my lasting memories from the decider – I don’t remember much, especially the after party – is the kick-off. I was playing No.10 role and just as I received the ball Mile Jedinak came through and clattered me. It didn’t tickle but I jumped up on my feet as if nothing happened. I think I called him a pussy. Then all of a sudden Matt Thompson was by my side, Adam D’Apuzzo came running in, Song came in … I had all these guys watching my back. No-one batted an eyelid. I wouldn’t say that reaction won it for us but it contributed.

I don’t understand nowadays why the Jets don’t buy into the derby, not publicly anyway. Before I went to China the rivalry was fierce. And it flowed on to the fans. If the players are hyped up, the fans jump on board. There is nothing wrong with a bit of banter, the odd barb, as long as it doesn’t cross the line.

John Hutchinson was the ring master when it came to talking the derby up. I always respected his passion for his club, even if he wasn’t always able to back it up on the field. We had a responsibility to our fans to return serve. You don’t give the opposition an inch on or off the field. The fact there are more derbies now has made an impact. And when we were going at each other full throttle both teams were challenging for titles. Even so, a derby should never lose it’s spirit regardless of where the teams are on the ladder. Whenever its Liverpool v Everton or Hamilton Olympic v Broadmeadow Magic the intensity is always fever pitch.

Now is a chance for the Jets to inflict misery on the arch enemy. Especially given what is happening down there with injuries and suspensions, and more so the way they Jets are playing.

I was adamant that David Carney should have stayed in Newcastle. The biggest concern I had was being able to replace him. The Jets have clearly landed someone special in “Nobby” Nordstrand. If you analyse his first goal against Phoenix, how he opened up his hips perfectly and bent it around the keeper. It wouldn’t have been out of place in the Champions League. His signing and that of Steve Ugarkovic, plus the growing influence of Leonardo, have been central to the upward curve. Scott Miller needs to be applauded.

It has to continue on Sunday. Anyone who has passion for football in this region should make a beeline for Gosford. You might just see something special – a derby.

I agree with him. I can't remember the last time a Derby game was actually interesting. They've been more boring than usual the last few seasons.

Might be because the Jest have been such a Joke for a number of seasons, I don't know, but the passion and fire seems to have gone from the field around this.

I don't know how the fans are, at Gosford and at the Scumdome, and if the fire is gone off the field, but on the field it hasn't looked like a derby match for a few years.

I hope Fox have Griffiths as their 'ex-player with nit-wit' insight on Sunday.

Hutch will be giving it to him after reading that. I expect 5 balls to be kicked at him whilst he's at the podium with Tara Rushton. ;)

Having been at the scumdome this season, I can assure you that when our last minute equaliser went in, you knew the derby matters

You only had to be up at The ScumDome earlier this season when Sim came on and equalised 1-1 to nick the draw to experience the dichotomy of emotions, going from utter depression to pure elation & then praying for that 'fcuk -you' 2nd goal and all 3 pts.

The draw that day was totally worth travelling to that shit-hole of a place and dealing with their try-hard ultra's.

The Derby Matter's:
ALWAYS has ......
& ALWAYS WILL !!!

Good to know that it still matters to the fans. Being in Melbourne I don't get to know that - it doesn't have the fire on the field it used to, but at least off field it's still passionate :D

Given how many problems seem to arise between the stadium and the station it's incredible that they don't police that area....

Really? Again, only going off what I hear on social media and on here. Perhaps the problem sounded overstated then. That's really good to know actually.
I've always found MV games to be the most problematic (and so have quite a few people I know). Never had a problem at the Scumdome either.

In no particular order, events at the scumdome :

Cups of piss hurled down from the corporate boxes at us
Random scum trying to fight their way into the away bay
Random scum starting as we leave the ground
People going to the buses attacked

I'm sure there are more too but those are ones I have had to endure
