ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Well said.

A draft is also good preseason marketing for the game. Gives media and forumites something to talk about.

Absolutely. I follow the AFL and the leadup to the draft was great, there is a lot of coverage in the media and on forums discussing what players might go where, who the next future star might be etc.

At the moment the A-League goes pretty dead in the off-season.

Desperate to restore some credibility to a dreadful finals concept I guess.

They are getting bagged left right and centre for rigging it down to 6th so the small, failing sides (like Sydney) can have some hope.

Meh, the FFA has a vested interest in pretending the GF is more important; it equates to more ticket sales and more merchandise. Nothing more, IMO.

That, and we all do like GFs in Australia. Sure, we all know it's the plate that actually reflects the best team of the season, but the GF makes for a good spectacle and that seems to be where the glory lies. It's not right, and anybody that tries arguing that the league winner is not a reflection of the best team of the season has their head stuck up their arse, but that's where we are.

At this point in time, with our record, I'd rather win a GF.

I think it's hilarious about how he spruiks the virtues of the 6-team GF - personally, I think the fact that MOST teams get into the final season is an absolute joke, a completely embarrassment and makes a total mockery of the comp (much like the 8-team series of league). Kinda makes the whole season pointless, if a team finishing in the bottom half of the competition can be the one that's remembered in the years to follow.
