Yo !! ............. the other side to your argument fp. Not the funding bit blah blah blah ........... the bolt vs young player promotion bit.

My sentiments exactly and I am uplifted to read I have the same aspirations of such an esteemed football identity :vhappy::vhappy::vhappy:.

Unfortunately ........... reading the article it also made me realise how ............ to use fp’s terminology .............how zero connected he was to ccm’s intentions, situation .......... whatever. :(:(

But ............ 442 are not the only winners are they ............. Ccm once again realised free advertising and brand identification :tv:.

Whooooooo Haaaaaaaa !!!! ........... unicorn away :pirashoot::pirashoot::pirashoot::unsure::unsure:

Adz....do we have a drug f**ked icon?....or a head spin as recommended by Offsider emoji?

What an idiot. Clear case of him engaging before he has any idea of what he is talking about. Wouldn't have hurt to check our squad first to see how many NPL players we have signed and our history of developing youth.

Not everybody is engulfed in the ccm woes localpom ............... kurtz was clearly putting an idea / criticism of ffa using the bolt promotion as bait for his hook........... to achieve a result that you would champion ccm for ????. Having a different frame of mind, having a competitive team and owners who spend ......... shouldn’t profile him as an idiot.

Cheers

I don't have a problem with him not liking Bolt potentially playing in the HAL. I also don't have a problem with extending the bench. To combine two unrelated points together as an either/or proposition, while it might not qualify as idiocy, it does make one question how his mind functions.

Probably a tad harsh but he has come out with a statement that isn't based on reality. I'm actually not engulfed in CCM woes, am quite positive at the moment! Cheers to you too.

To combine two points, related or unrelated to make a point, is not outside the realms of normal thought .......... I would think ???
I didn’t concieve it as an either/or proposition ???........... more of a preference for a course of action that he would reccommend ffa to look at. I am sure that “preference” would be supported by every npl player and youth player in australia............. and in saying that .......... I think his mind function is, in this area, unquestionable. The question should be asked of ffa.

I also note that he refers to his old club as having experience with bolt’s previous trialling efforts and it is unknown as to whether he researched this fact before passing his opinion. He seems to have an emphatic opinion on bolt questioning his ball skill. I for one, would not question his opinion until I see his team results this season. I have to admit I shared his opinion about learning a lifetime specialist skill at 32 yrs of age but I am also reading a lot of confidence in the reports and comments from those directly involved with him here now. Perhaps his deficiencies were more noticeable at bundeliga 1 level.

I wanted to discuss these views with my unicorn but unfortunately he is otherwise preoccupied at the moment. ( insert swivel head emoji here to keep wombat happy).

Cheers:popcorn:

Having a problem in your definition of reality ??? as he was expressing his idea ......... which is in fact a reality.
Bolt didn’t cut the mustard at kurtz’s old club .......... reality.
Bolt deal was on the table for any a-league club to pursue ...........kutrz didn’t ...........reality.

Sorry ..... being harsh ......... things are looking better I agree. Worried now about all the injuries.:(

Falsity - he was their to announce a new shoe. He did that so he cut the mustard on what he was there to do.

The A-League's Usain Bolt experiment shouldn't come at a cost to young Australian talent, according to Adelaide United coach Marco Kurz.

This is the either/or - We have 12 of 23 players 22 or younger and four signed from last season's NPL or lower.

Kurz says he can't pass judgement on Bolt as a footballer .

Then the article discusses his thoughts about extending the bench and Usain before ending

"I will see what is the next step of Usain Bolt but for sure he must have the quality to play ... he is fast enough but I don't know about Usain if he is good on the ball or not," the German said.

Whether the crux of the article is the reporter's spin or Marco's true thoughts is unclear. I didn't see the interview and as I said all he has said there is valid in isolation - but they are not an either/or proposition and it is just plain wrong to use, even if it is thinly veiled, the Mariners as an example of a team not prepared to give youth a go when making an unrelated point.

In that case ........ if what you say is true ............ and there are multiple reports of his trialling at three clubs .......... then I have to accept that those reports are wrong and possibly $ based. It is not outside the realms of possibility that there were assessments of his ability made during his time at the clubs seeing his desire to play professionally.
He may have been there to announce a new shoe ......... but it is long time to be there just to do that ???

I see your “mustard” ( actually my mustard) and raise you a “vindaloo”.

Once again I fail to see the either/or connection in relation to bolt. The article refers to the a-league’s bolt experiment ......... no direct connection there to ccm or the clubs attitude to npl youth players other than ccm is involved in the experiment ......... thinly veiled it is, very thin.......... even if you want to connect it. Nobody is referring to ccm’s recruiting.
Every marquee and visa player recruited reduces positions in teams or reduces game developement time for younger players. How far does the inferances need to go ???

There are 2 sides to an argument here - do you spend more on NPL/youth to improve young local players OR bring in Bolt to ramp up attention and sponsorship for the Australian league?

Like all things one extreme or the other is rarely the right balance point. Somewhere in between lies the answer.
In this case - for myself - Bolt makes sense.

He brings exposure to the club and the A-league - which feasibly should also bring in more money and, ideally, attract higher caliber VISA players who will better recognise and consider the A-League.
Further, this is one of those rare people that might actually be able to switch code and make it to a certain professional level. The A-League may be his cap, or he needs a lower league, or maybe he could even excel (no-one really believes he'll be too good for the A-League obviously).
The belief that at 32 a world class athlete can't learn to play another sport at a competitive level - whilst on balance is probably true for most - is not a locked down fact. Hence the indefinite trial. It is possible if improbable.

The point is - we just don't need more inexperienced youth or NPL players in the current 2018/19 CCM first team. If the choice is that or giving Bolt a go with all of the myriad and unique other benefits...why even consider the former?
