On the positive.

Bay 1 >>> Bay 16..

- Roof creates noise.
- Smaller, skinnier bay means people are closer together.
- Better view.

could go on for days.

Bay 1 new supporters bay

Only thing I could hear from Bay 1 in my Bay 8 location was the drums. Couldn't hear any chants at all. Much worse than Bay 16 from where I was sitting. The Tianjin supporters fired up on only a few short occasions, but I could hear them loud and clear and they were up near the fence, not under the roof.

"Boogard is F*cked and he needs to learn to defend"

You must be joking.  Bridge harldy got a kick.

The goal - he forced the striker wide and (not for the first time) Danny was beaten at the near post.

From replays I have seen, I feel Danny did a poor job trying to keep goals on that one. The ball wasn't hard hit & it still skittled past him. Boogs did alright to force him a bit wide but could've been faster to the player.

Good work!! Put those Asian scarves in a good safe spot. Good memento for the first Mariners ACL campaign.

Dear oh dear!
"Thank god it's over!"

I really can't express how disappointed I am with the way the club has approached and played in this competition. I was looking forward to mid-week games against exotic opposition and putting the Coast on the international football map.
What did we get, a keeper who couldn't catch a cold, piss poor defending, uninventive midfield play, wasted chances in front of goal, a shamefully weak squad and embarrassing results!

IMO all the ACL campaign has done is twist the knife on the problems we've all got far too used to seeing since NYE 2008! Letting Jedi and Sasho leave the club are epic mistakes by the management and board and tantamount to selling the crown jewels!

We played OK in patches last night, but lacked the killer instinct up front [see comment above!], bay 1 was very audible during the 1st half from bay 36 and very, very audible from bay 1 in the 2nd half!

It will be interesting to see if the club let's the memory of this campaign fade a bit more before sending out the season ticket application forms for next season or at least until a couple of quality signings have been announced!

Caceres as a combined No. 10/Second Striker = epic win.  He seems to play better with 3 opposition players in his immediate proximity..... he danced around those Tianjin players like they weren't there.

Nothing really came of it tho. He might of beaten them, but then did nothing with it.

I figure that's generally when midfielders and/or wingers come running in off his flanks as support..... well in Hutch and Elrich, well in.  :vomit:

TBF Elrich made some good runs off the ball, he just did stuff all when it was at his feet.  Don't really think hutch is worth discussing.

Hopefully what FFC was saying last night about his complete and utter lack of confidence with the knee and leg are true and that he gets better over time - he could be quite the asset down that right wing.

He was showing some form in the match v. Newcastle prior to the injury. I think he needs gametime and continued fitness work.

Yes Danny at Fault for not getting behind that however if Boogard was a better defender he would have been a yard closer to him and closed down the shot.

Say what you will about Wilko but the one thing he is good at is getting himself between the ball and goals. I also feel that with an decent CB beside him Wilko will bloom again.... Not sure if he is captain material but he is a good defender who has had other poor defenders and no Midfield since Jedi left.....

Well it was a better performance and we were the better side BUT we are still very poor.  The quality just isn't there but at least there was some effort.

My thoughts...

1.  What has gone on with Danny?  He is terribly out of form we need to get some cover for him now.
2.  Personally I thought both the fullbacks were rank but Clarke was worse.  He should not be in the squad next year. At least Heff had a go at times even if lacks a first touch.
3.  Wilko was pretty good and actually commanded his troops for a change.
4.  Boogs was good but is lack of pace cost us the goal.
5.  Hutcho  doesn't even deserve a squad place on current form.  A 10yo could do better from a set piece.
6.  Bojic....did Ok but definately not CM.  You having a larf Lawrie?
7.  Osman was quite good but looses the ball far to easily...the dive was a crack up.
8. Elrich...will be good when fit but should have been subbed after 50mins...were u watching Lawrie?
9. Caceras...started well and the only bloke to take em on but his composure in front of goals is horrible.
10. Kwas...usual mixed bag...some absolute dross but had a go...please don't ever play him up front again.  Loved his 50yard track back...great effort.

Lawrie...whats happening mate.  The subbing was pathetic.

The broom needs to go through this lost and fast.

Marinators didn't sound any louder than when you were in Bay 16 but those at the back would have been dryer i guess.

I'm quite happy with Elrich getting more game time just for his fitness. It was a dead rubber after all and he was showing a bit of class.
