ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Thought experiment: Central Coast Red Bulls

You may have something there!
The only down side is the players would be too relaxed before they go on & some players may look forward to being pulled off in the second half!!

Wouldnt like it.

Mariners are the 'little' community club that could. Everytime we beat bling fc and the like it brings me a smug satisfaction. This so called backwater bogan community that should never have been in the league produces a better football culture, gives Aussie youth a chance and develops better talent with our limited resources then all the other Woolworths fc, oil barron, mining tycoon united franchises.

Hopefully one day (many years to come) this league becomes a decent player Asia/world and your man cities, Co orperate conglomerates and russian billionaires are pumping big money into the main teams, I will still prey we dont sell out even if we float around the bottom of the ladder. I will always support the Central Coast mariners and its sponsors, but never a co orperate entity regardles of the whorish glory that came with it.

I think we're all with you mate, but would you really pull support from the Mariners/Coast team because of the ownership? It'd have to be a real scumbug Roman Abramovich/Silvio Berlusconi style douche bag for me to actually consider not supporting the club anymore. A company that has a long history of supporting sports world wide is a lot better than some options.

The real question comes when you have to choose between having a team or not

Basically. The North Sydney or Geelong rumours struck a chord because the team was being removed from the key thing most people are drawn to - the Central Coast. The Mariners is just another name, its been around for what 9 years? The Central Coast has been key to most supporters of the club for a lot longer.

Ownership is one thing but your team named, coloured and promoted after an energy drink or multinational product is another I think.

To answer Scottmac's perfectly reasonable question for me personally if we had to go to such measures to keep a team I would feel very apathetic about it all.

I guess another question is how much are we willing to put on sale and trust in an energy drink company. Further with a team soon known as 'redbulls' or (insert product), what risks are involved if controversial or unethical issues cause a public backlash againts said company. If they were just a sponsor we could both part ways, but being an actual team could be a much different story.

Interesting point.

Probably why Newcastle didn't have Kronic as a shirt front sponsor when it was a perfect fit for them.

I think with the amount of sporting teams red bull has started the fears of negative public backlash while real, would be small.
Also team red bull is by no means an energy drink company. The teams are the vehicle for the drink but have a complete identity in their own right.
