ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Fox said their was offer to monty from k league but hadn't been taken up. Bridges laughed and said monty living in Sheffield for so long had never seen the sun and there is no way he'd be leaving the sun now.

Scotty,

Can't agree this time.

Duke is a diamond that just needs some polish.

For me the problem is playing a single striker. None of our strikers are suitable to play a loan target man.

Improve our set up....and Mossy has been improving the structure a little....and Duke will be a very important part of the puzzle.
Unfortunately I think duke needs to go for his own sake and devopment. We don't play him right. However duke fitzy Berni seem to suit each other and with caceras looked good in last 15 mins today

I think Duke's been doing fine the way he's been played lately and as someone else has already mentioned... It's a tough role in which to get game time, so I think it'd do him and us some good if he stays at least another season.

How exactly do you play him right? He has plenty of opportunities at 9 and on the wing, what more can you do?

Dukey has zounds of potential, but his touch aint so deft and his finishing aint so great either. Reminds me of Bernie from 2011/12, where he had all this speed and explosiveness but kept wasting it with bad touches and horrible finishing (my mates and I had a joke, finish your beer if Bernie takes a shot slow, on the ground, and straight to the keeper).

Whatever Duke was doing when he was with the Socceroos at the East Asian Cup, get back to doing that.

As for Monty, I said to him "never leave us" when he came around to thank the fans after the match yesterday and he said something to the effect of "lets hope so". I remain confident he won't be enticed by foreign clubs.

No Al.

We need to mature and not let our best prospects go all the time.
Normally I'd agree - But I reckon with better coaching (top level) he could be turned into a star.

As you know wombat our structure won't be changed & we won't play a 2 striker system from 1st min. that would better suit him. He needs more structure & understanding with the ball players. A designed setup which they use instead of improb, so they can't get something happening.

Duke has been let down by the coaches - a) choosing Simon over him regulary (Mossy's early calls) then persisting with him on the RW was a mistake.

He also had Flores - They gelled well - Best he looked all season running onto Flores touches
Then McBreen then Caceras & now Kim - No combo with any of them.

We don't seem to be teaching duke how to be a 90m Striker & work in with the MF. It's lets just use his pace. But he has a lethal shot but is only ever in a position when chasing a long ball.

Anyway happy to disagree but I just don't feel we are teaching him enough.

Robbie Slater, believe it or not, gets it right when he says Duke has to stop playing everything at 100 miles an hour. I would like to think Sterjovski is in his ear about the time he actually has when he is on the ball. At least he is now playing with a smile on his face instead of having the sulks which he had early season.
