ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I don't imagine he is earning more here than he would've earned at Sheffield, in fact I imagine it would be less. Just depends on how much money I guess.

I wouldn't want Monty to go. He seems to love it on the Coast and doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. If we did lose him then it means Caceres will be a regular starter (not a bad thing). However, our cover will be a 16 year old and an 18 year old and while they are both good prospects I don't think we should be placing all our faith in players that young.

Hutchinson 2015
Caceres 2015
Kalik 2016
Curran 2015

Not sure Monty would necessarily want to go, he and the family love the coast.

I don't think $ are something that drives him as he could have certainly got more $ overseas than coming to the mariners and earned very good money at Sheffield United.

If we are struggling though I could see why we would want the deal as I would say if we can get a transfer price and also from a wage front he would be at the top end. Might help explain why a player who has never stayed down injured and hasn't missed games due to that is suddenly too sore to play after the Korea trip.

Hoping this is not the case but wouldn't be surprised.

Good for Monty if he wants it, he's a good guy and has served us well and I'd genuinely be happy for him on a personal level.

At the same time he's our best player ffsake, not again!

One of our best, another massive blow, but I tend to be a bit annoyingly optimistic so...

A visa spot, plays the same position as our captain hutch, our best prospect caceres, our newly signed NPL midfield gun Trifiro and 2-3 of our best youth players...

Leaves the back door wide open for weemac or Wilko next season...

Might be able to convince him to take his mate seip with him...

More banana bread for me

I can't see him doing it, I think he and his family are now settled on the Central Coast and the move was all about lifestyle rather than money.

mcbreen and his family were settled on the coast

last season when the club fell behind on paying players it was reported that monty had to borrow money from his family in the UK to pay the bills

paying off mortgages and setting up for life is alway going to win out when your a footballer in your 30's

I spoke to Monty over Christmas & he absolutely loves it here.
He thought it was an ideal place for his girls to grow up.
The $$$ would be hard to resist but would he jeopardise his family`s future for the big bucks?

In my perfect world, Monty would follow the same coaching path as Dutchy. I'd like to see Monty play another couple of years. By that time Dutchy would be assistant coach to the A-league team and Monty would be ready to step into the Youth coaching role.

So on and so forth.

Much rather him cracking shins @ Pulse or Florida Beach Bar & let the Islanders cleanup the mess
