Maybe this should be changed to the port of Newcastle.... it's a tad hard to listen too,... listen as it sets it up but get past the first 30 seconds ... but is worth it in the end and IMO one of the most insulting songs about a place I have ever heard...

  • FRACAS: Drew Jose, centre, has pleaded not guilty to assault.

A MEMBER of the Squadron admitted that he mouthed off at a group of Western Sydney Wanderers fans at Hunter Stadium last year, but he denied grabbing a police officer by the testicles when he was arrested, Newcastle Local Court heard yesterday.

Drew Jose, 21, said one of his friends slammed into him causing Mr Jose to fall forward into a police officer after a fracas broke out between football fans and police towards the end of the A-League match between the Newcastle Jets and the Wanderers on December 14 last year.

That officer told magistrate Robert Stone that he didn't know who struck him from behind or how.

Another officer, from the public order and riot squad, said he grabbed Mr Jose after watching him push the other officer.

He said Mr Jose grabbed him on the testicles, "squeezing tightly" and would not let go.

The officer said it hurt and he repeatedly said, "Let go, let go", before Mr Jose finally did after receiving two "hammer strikes" to the face and neck.

Mr Jose, of Raymond Terrace, pleaded not guilty to assaulting police.

He denied grabbing the officer by the testicles, saying that he was on the ground with one arm under his body while the officer had a hold of his other arm.

Mr Jose said he had had four pear ciders, four Jack Daniels and cola and an ecstasy pill before heading to the ground.

He said he was intoxicated, but "not legless" and he had a good memory of the evening.

Video from a mobile phone was played to the court that showed Mr Jose's arm being close to the officer's groin, but Mr Jose said it didn't show him grabbing the officer's testicles.

The footage also showed an incident involving another Newcastle fan Danny Burt.

Mr Burt, 41, of Woodberry, pleaded guilty to assault and offensive behaviour yesterday, but he maintained a not guilty plea to assaulting police.

He will face a hearing in June.

The court heard that some Wanderers fans entered the Squadron fan area and taunted them. Mr Jose said he had been close to the ground to lead the Squadron's chants with friends, but after noticing the Wanderers fans he moved towards them and "mouthed off" at them.

His hearing will continue in August.

It must be really frustrating to be a Jets fan.
Having to get pissed & take ecstacy before a game really shows the level of excitement their team generates.
Very sad,the only real highlight of their match day seems be getting out of the flanno`s.

Dirty rumours floating around that Arnold has excepted the Newcastle job, that he will be bringing in Clarky AND CRAWLEY as well as Flores. :redcard:

As soon as I saw GK sacked it was my first thought.

Why not just play in yellow.

What will be interesting over next 3-4 years will be any CCM players who might want to join him.
E.g. would be Kalik who he signed from AIS but said he'd hang around for him. If doesn't work under Mossy might leave to Jets & maybe Duke would be tempted etc.

He is clearly out to gut us every time. Arnie has put himself above CCM to many times now. He might have won us the toilet seat but he is getting very close to be flushed by me
