I don't have any info on the above but you will find that the acquisition of assets will be written off over time (amortised/depreciated).

Also, wages and running costs will hit the P&L (depending on the situation). Combine this with no revenue and you have a loss.

Correct. But wasnt inquiring about depreciation nor operating costs. I was inquiring about the acquisition of assets hitting the P&L. Majority of assets associated with mines are mine properties (underground development) which are depreciated on a units of production basis - no production has occurred.

Nathan's comment makes no sense.

This still wouldnt create an accounting loss in itself as the asset would be capitalised. Acquisitions arent the reason for the losses.
