ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Marinators Should Join the Green And Gold Army

yeah i know i got caught up in that, in last season's semi at the scumdome, last time i let my sis's friend by tickets for me again. 3rd row from the front would have been good if the old ladies behind didnt need walking frames to stand up.
i know its shit and you cant see down the very front but IMO thats the only way we will get everyone to stand up if the first two rows stand up and dont sit down for anyone, then the people behind stand cause they cant see and so on and so forth until the whole bay is standing.

Or the people behind call security and go crazy because they have been denied their (legitimate) opportunity to sit at the game.

An obvious solution would be to reserve a bay of the upper tier for those guys but thats expecting far too much of the FFA (who run the semi's)

yes that would be the obvious solution but as we know FFA are a bunch of paper pushing dim witts who know little about what the real supporters want. all they care about is that they get as many arses on seats, no matter how they get them.

Check out the facebook group Greenpole posted for the guys who are trying to create it not as a commercial venture but as united supporters. These guys aren't just about the roos and have pushed the idea during the olyroos games that occured last season, and as far as I'm aware no fanatics or GGarmy were any where near this  as a group.

I'm also seem to remember that when the united home end idea was floated the GG army and Fanatics were invited to be part of it. I'm pretty sure they declined for what ever reason.

To be fair, I was sleeping........ shock horror, right??  :p

*deep breath*

As evidenced by the delightfully funny comments of "awaits serious' reply", you're all more than aware of my personal feelings towards the GGA.  Now, I'm the closest thing the Marinators have to an official "Socceroos Liason" with the other clubs and the FFA and all that gear, so for me to rehash any of that would be a bit counter productive (admittedly, it would be a great read, but I'd just be burning bridges a lot of us have worked very hard to build).

As Dru said, the link that Greenpole put on the last page is the way we need to go.  A _unified_ Australian Home End, inclusive of anyone and everyone.  And I think it would be an awful idea if the Marinators were to show favouritism towards the GGA (over say, The Fanatics or Fox Sports Travel or Australian Sports Travel - any group invested (HA!!!) in the Socceroos).

so are you guys going to the games?

*doesn't bite*

There's 16 of us Marinator types mixed in with a lot of Sydney fans - I don't go to Newcastle's forum anymore, so I don't know what they arranged, although I'd assume the usual Furns/Muz crew are going.  I also know that some from QLD are coming down for both games.

And with our "friends" at the FFA doing very little to accomodate us, it was delightfully hard work getting tickets for everyone in the same area (like Greenpole said, a lot of money onto one person's credit card and then the hope that money would return to them soon enough).  These are the sorts of things the unified Home End is looking to change.  Not a "every man and however many tickets he can get for himself after ridiculous amounts of organisation on his teams forum 2 nights before" situation, which still doesn't guarantee we don't have some family behind us going "errrrr, sit down", but one where the FFA says "righto UNIFIED Home End, here's your giant block of tickets, distribute as we (Home End and FFA working together) see fit".

That, amongst many other things.  But that's just an example of why an association with the GGA won't work.

Not to mention the very realistic possibility that the game against Uzbekistan will see us qualify for the World Cup - you're going to have every bandwagoner in town clamoring to get into that game.  Bandwagoners + organised active supporters =  :naughty:

Very impressed mate.

As for me, I will keep it real and ignore the GGA and Fanwankers.

To be fair, "organised" groups trying to milk supporters of cash will become less and less relevant as the game and fan kulcha develops.

If you were to go to say Wembley or Hampden, every person in the ground knows the songs, what to sing and will all join in to some degree. Its bred into you and if you watch a game, the entire crowd at the ends will stand "as one" when something happens. That isnt here yet but will come in time.

I agree, the Marinators club ought not link with any group, what I wouldnt mind seeing is a more organised approach to ticket buying, where to sit and travel. Not for profit but to recreate that incredible buzz that we get at away games.

What, our approach of "BenW and I have a maddened exchange of e-mails which I then pass on to you guys and then you all give me money and I get our tickets in the same area all on 48 hours notice" not good enough for you??  ;)

I don't think he is serious.

I'm takin' the piss Ted........ because what I outlined in those quotation marks is how we've had to do it for the last two years.    ;)  I would _love_ a proper, points based (depending on your A-League club membership and how many games you've been to blah blah blah) ticket purchasing system.

Saves my credit card a hammering at the least.  :p

I meant that the Marinators club may look at coordinating tix for home games rather than leave it to 1 person.

Cricket clubs do it for tests and 1 dayers and maybe its something that could be looked at?

Will bring it up with exec, if James wishes?

Delightfully uncalled for.

Bear - if that's a position the club is interested in creating, then I'd be more than happy to either take that position on or help out the person who does.  I don't mind doing it now, and it's worked for us thus far, but it might be something to consider in the future.

I've done something similar in the past and managed to buy 100 tickets, but that was at Ticketmaster and for an A-League semi-final. It can be tricky with Ticketek - but could work if you have an insider at Ticketek or can get friendly with someone who runs a Ticketek agency and can convince them to sell you multiple tickets at 9am on the opening day of sale. At the moment I don't have any contacts like this and rely on grabbing tickets in multiples of eight and hoping people keep their promise to buy them.

EDIT-
And for any GGA stooges reading this thread - I had nothing to do with any comments in here. I was merely given a link to it by a friend.

The only thing I'll say is that anyone - Fanatic, GGA, non-aligned, Martian, whatever - who wants to stand and sing at a Socceroos match is welcome in the Australian Home End (just don't try to profiteer out of it)
