I have freedom anxiety.
80% of the eligible population is only 64% of the the total population.
Under 12s generally do not suffer seriously from the virus but can still be a source.
USA has opened up and they have 64% fully vaccinated and are running at more than 110,000 cases /day. UK has 72% fully vaccinated and are running at 35,000 cases/day.
I will be very cautious in my behaviour for quite a while yet.

Well guess what. Just back from the test centre!!!
I was in a shop for about a minute, two weeks ago. Got a text to say get tested.
Feel fine, but just have to make sure.

But in answer to your post, I agree.
My son is 17. Really & truly he's an adult. He's going to be traveling to & from school on public transport.
So, yes the percentages are off really.
From memory the schools will be going back 3 weeks after his second Pfizer, so he should be OK.

We are currently running 45.5% nationally and 54.2% in NSW.

The problem is that we need to get to about 75% nationally of the total population to emulate some nations that have opened reasonably successfully. That needs to be 75% everywhere. 75% in Sydney and 55% in the regions will just cause more problems. similar with other states,

Yes we need to open up BUT we need to protect everyone - not just those that live in areas that have have access to the vaccine.

I’d question those who say they don’t have access to the vaccine by now. Are they willing to go out of their way to get it? Are they holding out for Pfizer when there’s no need to especially with Moderna rolling out. Bit of a convenient excuse for some I’d say.

Obviously there’s some elderly and isolated people but those are also the ones that have been on the eligibility list the longest.

I’m getting out of two weeks isolation because of a positive case at a childcare centre. Testers have seen quite a few families through for the same reason. It’s quite plausible it’ll happen again the way things are going but I have to balance the risk against the toll it’s taken having a couped up toddler stuck at home.

But on a larger scale Pfizer in Vic, Qld and WA was sidetracked to NSW. As a result second doses in Vic were set at 6 weeks rather than 3 weeks. They are only 5% behind NSW on first doses they are 12% behind on second doses. As they are receiving more now they have reset to 3 weeks and they will catch up but it is a bit rich for NSW to lecture other states when they are seeding outbreaks elsewhere while receiving the most vaccine.

It sounds like you’re talking primarily about Pfizer though? Are these areas unable to access AZ as well?
it’s not about lecturing anyone, but if there’s an option available then you have access. Not wanting it due to vaccine shopping (unless on a doctors advice) doesn’t change that. How many of those waiting will find another excuse when Pfizer is available in their area?

Yes - and that was when they took Pfizer from the regions and redirected to the the areas of concern LGAs. Don't get me wrong - that is where the greatest need was. But you then can't blame the regions, other states for having lower vaccination rates.

Yes - I was - but people were advised to talk and listen to their GPs when the age availability went down. A lot of GPs advised their patients that AZ was not advisable for them.

When you look at the age groups vaccination rates it shows that groups that have access for the longest time have the best coverage. i.e. Access and supply is and was the big problem. Vaccine hesitancy was just a convenient way to blame people for the governments stuff-ups.

For the media it was just a simple story. Get onto Facebook. Find a person spouting their objections and give them a platform. Far be it for them to what they should do. Proper research and report facts.

Vaccine hesitancy was just a convenient way to blame people for the governments stuff-ups.

No argument there. The way the government handled it and the lack of urgency shown has resulted in the most recent round of lockdowns. We should have been hitting good numbers months ago. The media has a lot to answer for too in the way they’ve dragged AZ through shit and said very little about Pfizer side effects. The government’s messaging has been poor but the media hammered away at it for a headline.

My brother in the UK has managed to avoid it so far, he's still wearing a mask everywhere and hand sanitising. I'll definitely be keeping it on for big stores and petrol stations.

Hand sanitiser has stopped me getting Bali Belly for more than 10 visits. I swear by that stuff and i'm big on Glen 20 spray. When I go to a massage shop in a shopping centre i make them spray the table in front of me.

One of my best staff members wont come back because she wont get vaccinated. I have tried to convince her to get jabbed but when she says...."Boss, can you promise I will not have any health problems or die if I get the jab?" ....i cannot. One of my staff got very sick from AZ so maybe she spooked Annie.

Yeah - it's tough for employers and workers, and people will be guided by what they have seen for themselves. I suppose the best you can advise her (since you obviously can't promise her anything) is to talk to her GP and let them explain to her the pros and cons. At least then she can make an informed decision.

It’s sad to hear stories like that. All you can do is suggest they see their dr as pj said or remind them that the live virus is spreading and will spread quickly once restrictions lift. Is it better to take your chances with the jab or covid?

100% and she has had a family member pass away from Covid overseas.

Looks to me like if you are in Greater Sydney in first phase of opening you can only travel within your LGA, so Sydney to Coast and vice versa will not be allowed.
